Remember, disagreeing with someone's lifestyle or immoral choices is not the same as hating them. You can both love someone and not accept their lifestyle at the same time. @@Maksie0 The "gay gene" theory was originally proposed by Dr. Dean Hamar. It was originally accepted research without question because it fit the desired Social Engineering Narrative of the Progressive movement. The thing is, new research by various geneticists and others in the Scientific field have blown away the idea of being "born gay." One famous example is the Twin Studies in both Germany and the United States on the subject. In fact, if being born gay is down to genetics, an identical twin with homosexual leanings will always have a homosexual sibling. This is because they are genetically identical. However, according to the Twin Studies performed, twins with a gay sibling were far from being gay themselves. Indeed, they rarely were. This forced the Scientific community to quietly concede that no one is born gay, and the case was closed. However, since the Science didn't fit the Progressive community's narrative, they swept the matter under the rug and continued to lie, saying that people can be born gay. That is why you and others believe the lie to this day. Narrative over Fact. As for homosexuality "not hurting anyone," the incidence of AIDS virus, other STD's, suicidal tendencies, and depression are higher among homosexuals in America than almost any other adult group. The fact that people are born gay should prove to people that God does not think it is a sin. you’re completely ignorant of all things scientific, aren’t you, Mr. Johnson? There was a study of identical where at least one of them identified as gay. About half the time the other twin was straight. By definition, that means that there is no gay gene because the twins have the exact same DNA yet often had differing sexual preferences. Therefore, since there is no genetic component, it is physically impossible to be “born gay”. Also, it’s been recorded from self-reporting homosexuals that at roughly half of them were sexually abused by men as children. That seems like a much more logical correlation to look into than claiming “gay since birth” when the data doesn’t support such a claim.

@@nathanieljohnson5908 so just bc people are born gay doesn’t mean it’s not sinful. You may not be familiar with scripture, but it tells us that we were all “born in sin.” Sin is only really a choice after we are saved by Jesus, but before then, we are “slaves” to our “sinful nature.” In the same way some people are born with all kinds of temptations and behaviors, some people are also born gay or more attracted to the same sex. What the commenter posted is a harsh truth that most people won’t accept: the Bible calls us all to celibacy as Christians until marriage, no matter how we were born or what our sexuality is. This is a very difficult message for LGB people to receive since same sex marriages are unbiblical, and the logical conclusion is lifetime celibacy, but the way we are born just reaffirms the message of the gospel presented in the Bible. The gospel says that we were born in need of a savior because our natural inclinations are evil; thankfully our God loved us so much that he was willing to present his son Jesus as an eternal pathway for us to reconnect with Him and find our true identity in Him. This journey will come with many struggles and temptations, but God gives us strength to overcome. God bless

I'm putting another thought, that I just put in as a response to someone saying this video can help them talk to a family member of theirs who came out: Be careful of "helping" - don't be too enthusiastic to jump in and contradict what someone is feeling without asking some calm, genuine questions first such as: "When did you start to feel this way?" , "What does it mean to you, to identify as ___?" , "Do you remember anyone being influential in your decision to come out?" Remember to thank that person for sharing such personal things with you. Let it marinate and let them know you just want to hear them right now. Later, when TRUST is established, you tread lightly but truthfully in love into these Biblical areas. Trust is a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE thing with this community!!! I can NOT emphasize that enough. The PAINS they know that straight people do not are almost indescribable but they are often nothing short of heartbreaking. She was told that she was loved but that her actions could send her to hell. Of course she broke down and sobbed. It was so extremely painful for her and to hear/be witness to. What she heard is that she is not good enough. That she is NOT loved and that her actions are "lifestyle" choices. The person saying this was not cruel in delivery or meant to be hurtful at all, but this still deeply wounded her. I truly believe this: "which is God's job, by the way-ours is sewing seeds and praying faithfully" We need to live our lives as Christians and not be afraid to pray, show our faith. It depends on the judgments that you are making. We are to judge, we are commanded to judge, we need to judge because if we don't then we won't recognize when we are wasting our time or not. We have to he able to judge if we are spending our time reaching out to people who are interested in hearing the word of God or if they have hardened hearts who don't want to hear His word. If the people's hearts are hardened then we waste time speaking to them, instead we should spend our time in prayer for them. The judgment that we are precluded from making is the judgment of whether or not someone is worthy of salvation and whether or not someone is worth our time simply from outward appearances. For example refusing to preach the gospel to people simply because you look at them and see that they are in sin(i.e. not preaching to a violent drunk because they are an alcoholic) or simply because they look like they don't like you or wouldn't listen to you, as it is quite possible that you are the only person who is available to pull them up out of the depths of their sin.

Jesus died on the cross to pay the price for our sins. We only have to trust in Him, accept His salvation and repent of our sins. Do you know what sin is? Maybe you do. But a lot of people don't. So I hope you don't mind if I share the biblical definition. Sin is the breaking of Gods laws. Repentance is something that happens inside each of us. It's feeling true remorse for sin and truly wanting to turn away from that sin. We can't really repent of something that we don't believe is a sin.

I really need these to stop showing up on my time line. I am Gay! I am single! I am celibate! So is my being gay a sin? As a gay Christin the only good news for me is that I don't have to go hell. My time on this earth is about suffering, loneliness and constantly being told that my single, celibate lonely life style is a sin because I am not attracted to women. And because of this I struggle to see God and loving and caring God. I know the bible say who is clay to question the potter and so I accept that my cross to bear is to never experience what its like to be loved and to constantly be reminded that experience of committed loving relationships is reserved only for heterosexuals. But what is heart breaking is to get bombarded with messages from heterosexual Christians "telling me the truth in love" when there is no love for me in their heart! Truly telling the truth in love is to say hey I understand that as heterosexual Christian, I will never be defined solely by who I am attracted to, the state of heterosexuality is not sin but as a gay Christian, you will always be defined by who you are attracted to because single and celibate or not the state of Homosexuality is sin. Tell the real truth in love requires heterosexual Christians to understand the while LGBTQ Christians are denied the hope of ever having romantic love and always being alone. Heterosexual Christians are not required to make that same sacrifice. It's understanding that for the LGBTQ Christian the good news is we don't have to burn in hell and our rewards in heaven but our time on this is not about joy and happiness it's about sacrifice and suffering. So. please stop saying we are to love the sinner and hate the sin! First of we are all sinners saved by grace so how is that even possible! Secondly, stop pretending to love me! If you really loved me you would have more grace for the daily struggle and sacrifice I am required to make and provide more encouragement, understanding and support of the struggles LGBTQ people make for our salvation. Imagine living with out the hope of ever being loved, having a family or someone to share your life with? I was not called to be single and celibate. I was forced to in order to be worthy of Jesus sacrifice! Please have a little more understanding around the fact that the LGBTQ persons are the only group that are not saved by faith alone and must deny our flesh and be celibate before we can be acceptable to God. And please stop reducing all LGBTQ people to sex! If God is no respecter of persons why is that single, celibate heterosexual Christian is acceptable to God. But I a single, celibate gay Christian must repent before I can be saved? Like what am I repenting for? I have prayed for over 30 years for God to make heterosexual and you know what He, hasn't! However, He has given me the strength to accept my constant loneliness and feelings or hurt and suffering. I grieve for that loss of hope on almost a daily basis but God gives the the strength to cope with my suffering. Instead, I keep my hope focused on the day he calls me home and my suffering on this earth has ended. The bile says (Matthew 7:3-5) 3“Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4“Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? 5“You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. I take this to mean you can't help some through what you have never gone through! Unless, God gives you the grace to do so. These messages about telling LGBTQ people that is a sin are not about giving a loving message of correction it's about an agenda to be right! A message of love is understanding that you are asking me to sacrifice something you will never be required to give up and giving me biblical counseling ,spiritual encourage and praying with me to keep me encouraged to know that God loves me even though I don't feel it and don't understanding why He created me to live with this loss of hope and suffering. I apologize is this not grammatically correct or if I have forgotten a word or two. This was hard to express and emotionally I can't go back and edit at this time

Really moving comment. I am straight, and practically no one here can relate to this struggle, including myself, however I do respect the immense strength required to remain celibate. The state of being gay is not a sin, and neither is your celibate lifestyle. In fact, the willpower and spirit you have is something we all seek. Denying sin in such a manner is exceptional and a terrible cross to bear. Acting upon the desires of your flesh to engage in homosexual activity is no better or worse than any other sin we could commit, like coveting, lying, idolatry, etc.; the punishment for all of these is death. But like the rest of us, you are saved through grace. I can’t imagine what it’s like to always hear that you get a one-way ticket to Hell for engaging in any sort of homosexual activity. Do not let yourself be defined solely by who you are attracted to, rather, be defined by your actions. The lifestyle associated with homosexuality is often one of constant and perpetual sin and lust; the fact that you have turned away from these sinful acts simply means that you are fighting your own battle against temptation, as are we all, and you are emerging victorious. However if the tide of battle turns against you, do not worry, because God has forgiven all of us. The “truth in love” is an uncomfortable one, and requires man to either fall in love with a woman, or remain celibate. But aside from romantic love, there is also Christ’s love poured out for all of us, and we must emulate that to the best of our ability by loving and respecting everyone, including these within the LGBTQ population. You say how your time on earth is constant suffering and loneliness, and that you live in anticipation of the day when you will receive your heavenly reward, and every tear will be wiped away. That is no motive for something so drastic as celibacy and lifelong loneliness. As I mentioned before, your celibacy has no bearing on your eternal reward; you will receive it so long as you are faithful. With your loneliness you are basically going the extra mile to serve God and deny the desires of the flesh. God calls upon us to resist temptation and to serve him, and you have answered that call. What greater motive do you need? If you only stay single as a means to the end of eternal reward, you serve God for the wrong reasons. Whatever you choose, serving God or sinning against Him, remember Jesus has already bore your cross so that you may be saved either way. That is one of the perks of being Christian: no matter what your demons are, you know there is at least one man who has battled them - and won. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this obnoxiously long comment, and God bless you.

"I am Gay! I am single! I am celibate! So is my being gay a sin?" Even if being in a Queer relationship were a sin, wanting to wouldn't be, wanting to sin and sinning are two entirely different things. Jesus was perfect and Jesus was also tempted, and it's hardly temptation if you don't want to do it. "My time on this earth is about suffering, loneliness and constantly being told that my single, celibate lonely life style is a sin because I am not attracted to women." I'm sorry to hear that, but this is wrong, Jesus never married a woman either, celibacy should be entirely uncontroversial. Though I also believe that being in a Queer relationship is also perfectly acceptable. "And because of this I struggle to see God and loving and caring God. I know the bible say who is clay to question the potter and so I accept that my cross to bear" Are you questioning God, or are you questioning what you've been told by people? Those are two very different things and anyone who says otherwise is probably up to something nefarious. "and to constantly be reminded that experience of committed loving relationships is reserved only for heterosexuals." This is what I mean; scripture never says this or anything of the sort. "...is to get bombarded with messages from heterosexual Christians "telling me the truth in love" when there is no love for me in their heart! " Tell me about it, all the more reason to be suspicious of what they're saying. "It's understanding that for the LGBTQ Christian the good news is we don't have to burn in hell and our rewards in heaven" Salvation is not dependant on meeting a certain standard of behavior, whether that be in sexuality or anything else. If we have to be "good enough" to get or keep our salvation then none of us are saved. "I was not called to be single and celibate. I was forced to in order to be worthy of Jesus sacrifice!" This is tragic hon' I don't mean to sound clinical here, but this to me sounds exactly like someone livign under the thumb of human inventions. You can't be worth of Jesus' sacrifice and neither can any heterosexual. If any of us had been worthy there would have been no need for a sacrifice in the first place. And this narrative that you're repeating is actually in contrast with actual scripture "But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion." 1 Corinthians 7:9 Forcing yourself into celibacy is not what scripture says you should be doing, and from my reading of scripture it seems to imply that doing it is harmful to you. "Please have a little more understanding around the fact that the LGBTQ persons are the only group that are not saved by faith alone" Whoever told you this lie? Queer people are not some scum in the bottom of the barrel of humanity, anyone who makes this argument is operating from personal bias, not scriptural truth and certainly not Love. "And please stop reducing all LGBTQ people to sex!" Say it louder for the people in the back. .... Darling, I'm so sorry for the state you're in, I hope that you get to live your life the way you want to, but I'd be lying if I said that I didn't think that you'd be best off if you came to Love and accept the way that God made you. Love is listed as a fruit of the spirit, and scripture explicitly states "against such things there is no law" (Galatians 5:22-23). This is not a perversion or a flaw, God is Love(1 John 4:8) and Love of God and Others encompass all of the commands of scripture(Matthew 22:36-40). And I regret so much that people ever made you feel like you were lesser because you were doing the same thing in a way that they didn't understand. xx

@@reedplaysgames "The lifestyle associated with homosexuality is often one of constant and perpetual sin and lust;" Sir, I can appreciate that you're more nuanced than some but I get the impression that you've missed something here. "asociated with" is exactly correct, associated with, not correlated with. What out of touch people in a moral panic imagine Queer people to be like is very rarely the case, and even on occasions where it is reality the truth is not nearly so concerning. "The “truth in love” is an uncomfortable one, and requires man to either fall in love with a woman, or remain celibate." Scripture never says this or makes any of the implications you're making here.

This was when I was a lukewarm Christian and making my mind up to follow Christ, hence the cannabis edible. I had this zeal for God but no understanding so I didn’t know how to go about having conversations and would get to the point. I love the emphasis on truth in love *with* *those* *willing* *to* *engage* out of *genuine* curiosity or whatever *honest* intent for having a rational conversation about this supper delicate issue (I'd advise not engaging with someone clearly hostile/looking for a fight, anyone looking to trap you with technicalities and twisted Scriptures, or clearly just anyone looking to make a joke out of every word you say; Christ says we will experience persecution but he never calls us to be an emotional martyrs.) I love the point on a new identity in Christ that is outside of a sexual identity bc this lie is king in this community: that you ARE your sexual identity and NOTHING is paramount to that. It's really something huge for Christians to understand, so we can have compassion on those where the enemy has gained this ground. I really like the point that this is not about whether or not God changes your orientation; that is a secondary issue that *with* *Biblical* *discipleship* , *down* *the* *road* , AFTER coming to to faith in Jesus will be worked on in each heart; some will find that God does change their sexual orientation where others do not experience this and may become celibate SSA (same sex attracted) Christians or other-oriented celibate Christians or it may look different than that but it will be a calling to a holy life, concerning their sexuality just like straight people are called to: THAT, though, is a note for Christians to keep in mind, NOT to spout out at an LGBTQ+ person! It's a point you can loose all ground you've gained bc the nuances that attach to it are very, deeply personal. I LOVE that you are "going there" but not as in challenging it, but trying to find how to BEST bring the LOVE of God and the BEAUTY of His gospel to this hurting, lost community of people *made* *in* *his* *image*. I certanly desagree. Our job isn't always to tell people they're living in a sinful way. Sometimes how we behave is a great opportunity to show them there's another way. The same way we were saved and changed our own sins.

That's understandable. I've always thought it better to become good friends with them even if we have disagreements first. Of course, there is a chance that their lifestyle rubs off on you and drags you down, but I feel as if they are going to be more likely to listen to you if they know that you care about them. Yes, being a good example can definitely lead them to ask, "why are you different"? But not all the time. I would try to broach the subject of Jesus and how he saved us first, kind of give the whole gospel presentation. If they believe, or ask questions, then bring up this topic. If they don't believe, then there is not much point in telling them that they are sinful because they won't understand or will misinterpret what we say as hateful.

I honestly don’t even know the right words to say are and when to say it. I pray for them a lot. I have been and still am where you are. First thing I will say to you is never stop praying for them. Prayer is powerful! I don't know when God will change your friends hearts but know his timing is perfect. I have a big group of friends I've been praying for for a long time. Just recently I've begun to see them change. They came to youth group, have started doing bible study with me. Secondly if you aren't already read the bible. If you are read it more. Be intentional pray God reveals his message in it. I say this from personal experience of going from not reading it at all to often now and it has taught me what to say. also Think about this. How much do you love your friends? i'm sure a lot. don't let fear or worry of offending hinder you. Real love will compel you to share the gospel. As a christian make sure you are living a life the gospel describes that way the will want to know what you have that they are missing. It is NOT love to condemn others. For too long, "Christian" leaders have taught us it is. In fact, unless you are 100% sinless in terms of sexual sins, it is a sin to condemn others (Matthew 7:1-3.) If being gay is wrong for you, then just don't become one. It's just that simple. I have never heard anyone here post a video condemning cigarette smoking or obese people which also could be considered sinful to our temple. But good, gentle people who are just trying to get by in life are fair targets for some sections of "Christianity."

Two problems we face: 1- all too often, there have been “Christians” who have been absolutely hateful in their exclamations of disgust regarding others’ sinfulness while at the same time being hypocritically even more sinful themselves. 2- no matter whether you’re answering in the perfect way, this is a battle of political advertising. It’s decided ahead of time that if you can be called an “-ist” or a “-phobe”, then that trumps anything you say. Take heart, brothers and sisters, continue to love and trust. Faith and the Truth will be the source of ultimate freedom.

The "I" stands for Intersex which is a medical condition people are born with. so no sin there. Being either LGB is not a sin. In order to sin you have to make a choice or an action and that choice or action itself is a sin. LGB can't be a sin because it's not a choice. People are born that way. I'll use this example. Say you have someone who is gay, and they have known since basically they can remember. They grow up. They PHYSICALLY cannot feel any romantic or sexual attraction towards women whatsoever. But they can with other men. Why is this? It's a feel that they genuinely can't control. So saying that being gay itself is a sin means that God created an abomination, someone who is only meant to suffer in life, basically living in hell on Earth only to be sent to hell after. That means they're sinning simply for something they can't control and were born with. I truly believe that God creates people like that for a reason. God considers everything. And that's why I believe it isn't actually a sin, and Christians just misinterpreted that word of God.

I know someone who tried to convince me that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality. He tried to say that in English translations of the Bible, it adds condemnation towards gay people. I was very interested because he claimed that it said that in the Old Testament, which is the last place I'd think of. He claimed to have translated the Bible from its original Hebrew and Greek to modern English (which is practically impossible). Wow! I work for a crown corporation under the Canadian federal government and have had to take three mandatory ‘diversity and inclusion’ workshops. These workshops essentially suggest that we need embrace acceptance of LBGT views and provide a welcoming environment that accommodates them. I’m one of the few employees that refuses to list pronouns under my email signature. You can’t ask me to suspend my beliefs just to make others feel comfortable or accepted when I believe the very notion of it is wrong. I really want to share my thoughts on my company’s public bulletin board but have been hesitant considering the amount of backlash I’ll likely get for it. I know I would be branded a bigot and it could hurt my future career opportunities. Do I wimp out and post it anonymously? This video has given me a lot of great ideas as to how I could frame my approach and make sure that people understand I’m coming from a place of love. Thank you for reminding us what it means to stand up for God and be fearless in the face of persecution. God made us in his image and doesn’t make mistakes.

@Joe Distefano Hey Joe. There tends to be a bit of shaming in the workshops I’ve attended towards anyone who doesn’t openly accept transgender views. The overall theme is that we’re missing the mark if we’re not celebrating and embracing our transgender/non-binary people. It feels as though we aren’t being given a choice as to whether we even believe in or agree with non-binary/transgender views. We’re being encouraged to create a comfortable space for them (I.e. using preferred pronouns in our email signatures) in an effort to be more accepting. I’m all for diversity and inclusion but I can’t participate in something that I fundamentally believe is wrong and is against God’s will. I know this sounds controversial, but I think if someone claims that they were born in the wrong body, they’re essentially suggesting that God made a mistake. I refuse to believe that. I can’t suspend my basic beliefs about biology and support a movement that I disagree with. I get that my company wants to appear progressive but they need to consider that there are people with differing views. All I’m saying is that we need to be given a choice, and an opportunity for our beliefs to be heard on an equal basis as the LGBTQ’s. I think it’s sad that Christianity/religious beliefs are taboo subjects in the workplace and yet companies encourage discussions about LGBTQ beliefs.

Hi Stephanie. I’m a pastor who holds the same views of sexuality as you. May I gently suggest you may be approaching this the wrong way and their may be a better approach? You’re operating from a framework that is prioritizing your own rights to free speech. The emphasis is on you wanting to speak your mind and not be silenced. I get it, I really do… but I also deeply believe that our focus as given to us in scripture needs to be on introducing lost souls to Jesus, and then allowing the power of the Holy Spirit to convict them of sin and to repentance. Remember the words of Christ when he was speaking to the oppressed Jews living under Roman rule. He didn’t say demand your rights or stand up for yourself. He actually said, If your enemy asks you to go a mile carrying a load for him, walk 2 miles with him instead! The Paradigm that Jesus and the NT writers give us is that as exiles in a world full of enemies, as citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, by loving our enemies we flip the script on them and show them a better way. Now there are many people we may consider “ideological enemies”. Many try to teach we need to be culture warriors. I would suggest Jesus gives us a gentler path. Instead of posting your objections to the sensitivity training on a bulletin board, which could very well push people away, focus on praying for your coworkers who don’t know Christ. Focus on befriending coworkers the Lord puts on your heart. And then, as he leads, focus on telling them about Jesus. I have many friends in the LGBTQ community. They know I am a pastor, and also that I believe theologically that any sexual expression outside a male / female marriage is sin. But they still talk to me, trust me, and even ask me spiritual questions about Jesus and sin and repentance. I’ve been used to lead some to repentance. The way I got these relationships was trying to emulate Jesus. He did not focus on declaring his views on particular sins, but befriending sinners and in the process revealing to them God’s heart on sin and forgiveness and redemption. In short, focus on people first and then the door is open for the Lord to use you to share your stance. Sometimes we get it mixed up and put the cart before the horse. I hope this is helpful. Take it or leave it!

@@Houseofcharch here’s another thought on the whole “refusing to address people by their preferred pronouns” thing. I believe as Christians we are called to a higher standard. Non Christians don’t have what we have… they are currently stuck in their sin, and so they are going to sin. I don’t think that should surprise us. Consider this: let’s say there’s a straight couple but they are living in sin. They aren’t married. They are sleeping together. They insist they are in love. I could say to them “I refuse to acknowledge you are in love, because it isn’t true love, it’s just lust. If you truly loved one another you’d stop sinning and get married. I refuse to go along with this charade because it goes against my Deep set religious beliefs!!” Or, I could be gentle and just try to be kind to them. I could befriend them, lead them to Jesus, and then work together with the Holy Spirit to help them see they are in sin and need to turn to the Lord and follow his ways. The LGBTQ issues are so taboo and sometimes I feel as Christians we just add fuel to the fire and make a bigger deal than we need to. I can call someone by their preferred pronoun and it does no damage to me. I’m showing them a kindness. Many of these people have views that Christians hate them and just want to shove “the truth” down their throats. But in my experience this just pushes them away. So a gentle approach is to just call them whatever they want to be called. That’s “walking with your ideological enemy” the extra mile. You know who they truly are. They are just confused and lost in sin. So walking with them through that cost us nothing. We can walk with them, point them to Jesus, and believe that he can show them the truth about themselves and lead them to repentance. And us showing gentleness opens the door for them to trust us enough to eventually hear the truth from us. Scripture tells us it’s the Lord’s kindness that leads to repentance.

@@Houseofcharch last thing… I don’t think Christian beliefs will ever have an equal place in society as secular ideologies. But that’s how it’s always been for Christianity. We are an underground movement of the Kingdom of God. It was radical in the early days too! Christians declared Jesus is Lord, Ceasar is not. That would get you sent to the Lions. The Bible says the Gospel is offensive and foolishness to those who don’t believe. We will never ever ever be accepted by mainstream society. So that should never be our goal. Rather the goal must be to work undercover in a fallen world, winning as many to Jesus as we possibly can. Our mindset must be “I am a missionary”. As a missionary, we must be good students of our culture. We learn and speak their language, instead of trying to force them to speak ours. We win their trust. And when the time is right, we open the door to Jesus. Scripture tells us many will reject this way of Jesus, but a small few will accept it and enter into the kingdom. That’s why we do what we do! The 1946 Revised Standard Version was the first time in all of Biblical history in any language that the word “homosexual” ended up in any Bible. In 1959, a seminary student named David S. responded to the translation team behind the RSV- questioning their choice of the word. To quote him exactly, he said: “Unless this error of translation is corrected, the wide circulation of this version will encourage intolerance and perpetuate a great social injustice thereby discrediting the Christian Church.” He received a reply three weeks later from the translation team, in which they recognized their error- republishing their translation with the term “sexual perverts” instead.

The one part I don’t agree with is putting an LGBTQ+ flag outside our churches yes we want to show that we are accepting to these people but we don’t want to skew the message of our religion. So no I don’t agree with this take. I just feel like it’s a way for Christians just yearning to be persecuted because of course a lot of Christians even myself have wanted or done almost anything to get persecuted.

I’m not a Christian but I agree with this in the sense that it would be a Christians responsibility to preach the truth… However, I ask that you would definitely also try to understand why people think Christianity can be harmful because people will always use the Bible as an excuse to do not only harmful biblical things (aside from lgbtq, the “women must be silent” passage, etc. etc.) but also they’ll use the Bible to justify things that aren’t even in the Bible. And so yeah, just try to listen to people who try to challenge your beliefs because from todays (somewhat subjective) moral values, following the Bible can cause harm if it’s not true. 1 Corinthians 15:14 “And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.”
@shftin2gear

“Following the Bible can cause harm if it’s not true” But harm by what standard? Morality is subjective without God, so therefore harm isn’t well defined. Also, people can use Christianity for harm the same way any set of beliefs can be used for harm. It’s not a problem unique to Christianity, and I would even argue Christianity deals with the problem the best, looking at it’s effect on the world vs other ideologies like Islam, Marxism, Tauism, etc.

@@shftin2gear well, I think you can say something is objectively good for a species well-being... Like I think we could say stuff like climate change is objectively going to effect human's well-being without God. Now of course, at that point the apologetic Christian would say "well why does our well being matter?". And I suppose there's no objective reason for that outside of either "God" or "it's an evolutionary trait to want self-preservation/well-being" But we can definitely say something is bad for human's/humanities well being without God. The issue is "why is our well being important?" Oh but yeah you're right, people can use most any belief for harm. Though it's a lot easier to cause harm with "God" 😅... I'm Christian and do not believe being LGBT is a sin. I have never in all my life heard a convincing argument as to why it is. Never. People say its unnatural. So is marriage, so is turning the other cheek, so is believing in God, so is walking the extra mile, so is loving thy neighbour, so is walking in obedience to Christ. Some would say stuff about Adam and eve. Just because a straight couple exists doesn't mean a gay couple shouldn't. I see no argument there I don't see why love has to ignore what is spiritual and what pertains to the character of a person and the only thing I have to care about is if they have a vagina. That makes no sense. I could meet someone who I connect with on a spiritual level and love them for who they are on the inside and decide to adopt children without parents and raise them into Christ but no that kind of thing is sinful because the partner I am doing it with doesn't have a vagina. This is the way Christ thinks? NO. Of course not. That is earthly thinking and I reject what is earthly. I don't hate you or anything If you do think it is sinful. You are still my family in Christ. I just have never been convinced. Open to it though.

I’m a Christian and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being LGBT. Yes the Bible says it’s a sin, but the Bible says lots of things that aren’t applicable in our modern context. Eg in Leviticus there are laws about which crops should and shouldn’t be planted together, which we plant together all the time in our modern day. Case and point, we shouldn’t say something’s a sin just because the Bible says we shouldn’t do it. The Bible is the inspired, not the direct, word of God. It was written by fallable people, not God, men who can misinterpret God’s word. The names of some of those men are literally on the Gospels, God didn’t write the Bible! I think that means we shouldn’t call something a sin just because the Bible says it is, we should take the word of the BIble (which is mostly holy and Godly teaching, don’t get me wrong) and think it through the medium, “is this a loving thing to do? Does this honour Jesus’ teaching to love our neighbour and accept each others’ differences” if not, we shouldn’t adopt it, we should say it was a mistake by the fallable writers. Jesus would never teach us to do something cruel. Being homophobic (and yes, you are being homophobic, by definition) is not kind or accepting and it’s not what Jesus would teach us. Since we’ve already seen above how we shouldn’t do it just because it’s in the Bible, there’s no reason to do it. Being gay doesn't dishour God because it's not taking him for granted in any way like blasphemey is (and you can talk about it dishouring God because God said marriage is between a man and woman. But not all people get married, and just because marriage is between a man and a woman doesn't mean it's only between a man and a woman. It's like God said we should pray sometimes, but that doesn't mean there aren't other ways of worship which aren't also Godly). Anyway yeah, dishonouring God. How can loving who you love dishonour God? It doesn't make sense! It also doesn't dishonour other people or yourself because there's nothing inherently bad about it, it's just loving a paticular person. It doesn't dishonour God's creation either. If it doesn't dishonour God, his people, or his creation, then it's literally doing no harm and it's not a sin. I disagree with you when you say being gay is not an identity. I think it is. An action is a choice. An identity is who you are. You meet some gay people who don’t want to be gay. It’s clearly not a choice so it’s clearly not an act. If something is an act, we say we are “doing” it. If it’s an identity, we say we are “being” it. The clue’s in the name: it’s “being” gay. Sin is always a choice, we are never forced to sin. Identity is not a choice. There’s nothing you can be which is sinful. You can do sinful acts but your identity can’t be a sin because it’s not an act. Therefore being gay can’t be a sin. Not that being gay is a bad thing, but you can’t help being gay. Something you can’t help can’t possibly be a sin. Jesus would never condem you for something you can’t help. Therefore being gay can’t possibly be a sin. I think what the BIble does teach is to be loving and accepting our differences in identity because we’re all one in Christ Jesus and therefore in fact, being homophobic is a sin! Feel free to disagree with me you’re entitled to your opinion, I won’t force you to agree with me that would be unkind, and I wish you all the best in life in Jesus’ name, I’m just saying that I think what you’ve said about LGBT is unkind and ungodly. Bless you my brother in Christ, I hope you have a lovely day.
