Okay I have so many questions, in fairness most are far too business sensitive to ask on this forum, however I have a couple of questions that are more general knowledge than specific, one what weight are the calves when you get them, specifically the black and white ones, two what weight are they when you serve them? And what weight are they when you send them back at I assume five or six months in calf. I am Irish and have a middle of the road herd by our standards c. 650 kg mature cows with herd average 7500 kg of milk and 625 kg of solids but due to new rules for organic nitrate per hectare I will either have to get more acres( easier said than done around here) reduce numbers or alternatively farm out the replacement stock,, I have a few other options but they would be hard to swallow ( reducing yield to get into a lower category). We have a target weight of 380 kg at serving at c. 14 months on average which means that we feed meals throughout the first year of grazing ( not a lot but we never miss a day) it costs quite a bit to raise our replacements however there is quite a bit of work involved all told so allowing for everything would it be unreasonable to expect someone to take our calves at c. 100 days in may at 120 kg and return them in 19 months at 550 kgs for c. €750 ? Thanks for the video it is a system that I suspect will become more and more popular in Ireland over the next few years based on the current information re regulations about to apply and coming down the road.

David may see this and be able to answer some your specifics Andy. It will be interesting to see if there is more of this in the UK and Ireland in the near future…
