I did it, thanks once again. I then converted my 'Corrected DEM' to slope and hillshade. DEM looks fine, but when I derive the hillshade and slope layers, they clearly show the areas that have been filled (gap areas). How can I improve this, please?
@GEO2004

Maybe the gap is too large, so the algorithm is not effectively working, I guess you should look for a better quality DEM, fixing this will be very hard and time consuming.

@@GEO2004 Many thanks. However, I will have to go with this file. What are the recommended methods for correcting large gaps, please?

No idea, sorry, unless you will ignore the hillshade and slope problem,

@@GEO2004 Can I ask a question? In my DEM minimum value range is 158.145 and 513.635. So, what should i enter as the minimum value in Raster Function Properties (included ranges)? 158.145 or 0? I don't understand the theory behind this.
@GEO2004

In this case, 0 or 158.145 doesn't matter, you can read the spatial interpolation topic if you want to understand the principle behind this stuff.

Hi, thank you for this video. I have a human footprint DEM that I downloaded and they have "no data" gaps as well. After creating the mask function, I can't seem to find the "elevation void fill" option. What do I do?

I am sorry for the very late response, my channel messed up lately due to youtube changes, so I cant get any notification about incoming comments, As far I know, the elevation void fill function is not available on ArcGIS version prior to 10.3 so I suggest to update your ArcGIS to at least version 10.3, hope it will helps.

Of course, you can use arcgis pro raster function that basically is same raster function with the arcgis desktop

Can we do batch processing because I have many images have same problem?
@GEO2004
5 жыл бұрын
I cant say does it is possible or not, because raster function in arcgis desktop look so "under the hood" One possibilities to do the process in batch is using arcgis pro, because the raster functions and modules can be accessed from python/anaconda, so we can write a loop of python scripts to do it.

@@GEO2004 Actually i have clipped some tiles with grid. the clipping grid boundary removes the pixel on the boundary line. so there is a gap between tiles. how to fill that gap? i dont have raw data.
@GEO2004
3 жыл бұрын
Your case is sure a different matter of gap filling. The tool I demonstrate in the video will not work on your case. Your case is little bit complex and needs some processing steps before you can get acceptable mosaic. Here are the steps: 1. Mosaic all the tiles 2. The output mosaic will have a lot of black gaps ( if the output is 8 bit) or transparent gaps (if the output is 32 bit). If its black, you are lucky because the elevation void fill functions will works for you. you still have to process it band by band though. If the gaps is transparent, you must re-export the mosaic to 8 bit image and make the gaps has black color (zero value), then you can apply the gap filling
