Here a quick video on how to EASILY bench press 2 plates (225lbs)! Most times, lifters cannot get to those “2 plates” because they lack strength in their shoulders, triceps, or just overall upper body strength as a whole. Or sometimes, one may have the strength but not be able to properly lift the weight due to improper form and body positioning.
Within the bench press, you want to make sure you are retracting the scapula, planting the feet for the drive phase, and visualize yourself trying to “bend the bar”. This will engage your Lats, chest, shoulders and triceps muscles as a whole. Then press!
Also there are two exercises that can aid if THIS(^) still does not help you. Using the:
-The Pin Press
-Isometric Bench Hold
will strengthen certain phases of your press where you may be weaker and allow you to break through any plateaus to finally hit 225lbs (or whatever your goal is!)
