Not exactly, but close. As long as the same square and method is used it'll work. For precise layout and accurate angle-finding the Pivot Point must be utilized. Try it, scribe a 45° angle using the video's method; now check the angle against the square's 45° hypotenuse - close, but not actually 45°.

Because where he placed the board is the final resting spot of where he wants the board to line up. It’s really not that complicated. Have you never used a speed square or something?

Or you snap the line for the sleeper.. then you have your angle.. 40° bottom / 50° top .. but this way is just as good

@@jimmyc974 You put your pivot point on the line and it read 40 degrees. Let's say you need a 25 degree angle, place your square flush against board and pivot till 25 lines up with the edge of your board, mark front side where it says pivot that's a 25 degree angle.

Little late but the 40 Deg came from the bottom of square. Not where he zoomed in at. The 40 deg mark is right on edge of board

Or just know the pitch and mark a hip. It's the same. If they are two different pictches. The hip is always an average of the two.

You could. You would lose some board length which is not that big a deal. If you see what the degree is, you can cut multiple boards. Hope that helps!

He made sure to get the angle with his square because in this case he is cutting muliple 2x4s at that exact angle. This helps him cut down his cycle time. Otherwise he would have to go measure everytime.

@@DaNedmonster He used a block to determine the angle of the board, he then wanted to know what that exact angle is, so he put the square against the board until the pivot point on front side lines up with the line he marked, then read the number that's at the edge of the board which it said 40 degrees. Let's say you need a 35 degree angle ok. Place your square flush against the board and pivot on the board keeping the pivot point against the board until the number 35 lines up with the edge of the board and then mark the front side where it says pivot, there you go 35 degree angle. Got it? Hope that helps
