At first people were concerned that snakeheads would cause extinction of local species, but that hasn't happened. People weren't too concerned about them spreading, but that did happen. Snakeheads reproduce twice a year and both parents closely guard their offspring, which is unusual for our fish fauna, and that has led to high levels of survivorship. Anglers have feared that snakeheads will outcompete largemouth bass, which were introduced into the Potomac River in the late 1800s. Snakeheads can commonly grow up to 10 or 12 pounds (with 18 pounds being the record), while bass might get to 3 or 4 pounds, and both fish occupy the same niche as opportunistic, top-level predators. For the most part bass seem to be holding their own, although we did find a dominance of snakeheads in one tributary we sampled in Virginia, where we found only a few small bass. We haven't seen major impacts on prey species, perhaps because snakeheads eat such a diverse diet, from other fish species to invertebrates and even small mammals. relay.nationalgeographic.com/proxy/distribution/public/amp/2016/03/160317-snakeheads-potomac-river-chesapeake-bay-invasive-species-fish

Largemouth are native to Eastern North America. They were introduced/invasive to the rest of North America, and have caused the extinction of several small prey fish in Western Canada. Snakeheads will do the same if they're not controlled/removed, especially in delicate habitats like the Chesapeake Bay area.

Bass can hunt as a wolf pack when a bait ball are present. Snakehead is territorial and wont let it's own kind get near. That is why Bass are successful and become a pest in Japan, South Africa, South Korea and some part of China. There is a law in Japan where angler should kill every Bass when caught but people just lettin them alive lol
@thetiredtraveler2540

NYC has crazy laws with snakeheads, the DEC demands that if you catch one you have to kill it and freeze it immediately then contact the DEC themselves so they can handle the fish. I can’t stand some of NYC fishing laws as we have some of the craziest ones but in my opinion if I catch one I’m taking it and that goes for any fish I catch (unless it’s a fish caught off season then I’ll cast it back since we need them to grow for season(s)).

Hell yeah dude! Definitely do some more snakehead videos! They are literally Maryland’s new gamefish. More videos would definitely be awesome! Just as long as you advertise selectively harvesting as well as informing anglers that they aren’t invasive (research has shown the opposite in Maryland waters). Everywhere I’ve caught snakeheads I’ve caught some of the largest fish and PB’S that I’ve ever caught. Also, please if possible, keep the locations private because everyone wants to fish for them but not everyone wants to pick up their trash!!!! This is a major issue! Since this fish is so targeted it’s drawling in so many anglers and a lot of them don’t practice CPR or clean up after themselves!! So please spread the word with the huge platform that you have. Thanks Brendon and Erin. Hopefully this fish will be protected so we can fish for them for years to come!
