Went out to the delta last week and thought that a black/blue color jig would be visible but the moment I put the jig in the water, it couldn’t see it more than an inch in. Plus, with the winds over 20mph, we gave up within an hour.

I only fish for stripers and occasionally sturgeon. I pay attention to seagull movements and listen and look for seals/sea lions. If it is muddy, I would play around with sardines or anchovies. Normally plug my Favorite lures/jigs. February has always been good for me. Plug the weed edges. Tight lines.

Good comments Nick! I've caught some great fish in February, dirty water, on black/blue jigs in staging areas outside spawning flats and such, in low current areas. Just as you expressed. I also like throwing the squarebill, but also a lipless(like a warpig) where I can slow down and tick it along the rocks and weed tops, works well for me. Anyway, good luck on your trip. Contact me if you'd like a tester for any of your baits! I'd love to throw some!

How the bass bite up there
@jamesbarron1202

I watched a interview with Josh Jones and he said he liked the coldest water best for big bass which sounds crazy. He said he thinks they get stupid in cold water. Smarter in the warmest water. He said he just broke off a Texas state record.
@TheBassHookup
Жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree. I don’t know if they’re stupid but I’ve caught the majority of my biggest bass in the delta in January and February no doubt
@jamesbarron1202

@@TheBassHookup I catch the majority of 7 lb plus bass in late February and early March. But January sucks in Texas. Worst month of the year for me. My home lake can be stingy most of the time but it has big ones. Zaldain fishes it a lot and says the same thing. The Classic was held here and a lot of the pros never caught a limit. I think they feed because the need to eat for egg production.
