When brilliantly laid out in such a succinct fashion it simplifies the concept! Only stumbled a little because my brain is wired to stack points top to bottom rather than bottom to top and put the fret #'s on the left side vs right. Reminds me of my time in Australia where I had to learn to ALSO walk on the left side of a path besides driving on the left side of the road. Thanks again.

Wow! I never thought of looking at “Caged” from notes from natural 1-7 notes of Maj/Min scale in the first position. Would it be the same theory if I was working in let’s say G Dorian mode? Great channel!!! 6 mins can give me 60 hours of practice!
@Samjamguitar

Ideally thats how CAGED works at its best... you can play any chord progression/arpeggio/scale or mode without ever having to shift hand position.

Genius! I have only ever learnt guitar from tabs, and always was confused how to use scales to build my own songs. Went through various circle of fifths videos etc. But none explained the essence of the chord structure as well as this (I already knew the basic fingering patterns fro major and minor chords, but never understood how they would go together) beautiful! Thank you :)

At 3:46 you show barring an A shape; any hints on how to do that without muting the 1st string when using only the 3rd finger on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th strings? I've seen it done but I always muffle the high E.
@Samjamguitar
2 жыл бұрын
You are actually supposed to mute the High end string when playing the shape this way...your not doing anything wrong! It is possible to make the string sound with this fingering but it would be quite difficult to explain in the comments section.
@danbromberg
