in my town there's only like 4 mechanics and its a choice of do i want to get ripped off, or get poor work done, i have to drive out of town for anything better. If I don't just do it myself.

I have a small independent shop that our family has been going to for over 10 years now, run by just the owner and his wife. We have trusted him for all kinds of stuff and he takes great care of us. I also make sure to tell others to go there too. When I went away to school I needed to find a new place to get my car serviced and since I had just bought a new car, took it to the dealer. I tried a number of different dealers in the area until I found one I was satisfied with (I have a Ford, so I have plenty of choice). However, I will say one thing I don't like about taking it to the dealer is that I never get a chance to meet the tech or specify who will work on the car. I never thought that I would be able to do that until I started following you and saw that you had your own customer base at the dealer. I always feel like if I ask the service advisor for a tech he recommends or ask to meet the tech I would get told no or looked at like I was nuts. I don't know, that's the way I've felt and I fully agree that it's important to find the person more than the shop, but I find that way difficult at the dealer.

How I found my automotive repair guy? I didn't. But I can provide a long list of workshops where you shouldn't go to (based on my own experiences). That's why I am here, to do (mostly) everything on my own.

But you didn't tell us how to find that shop. Until I find that shop I can't find that guy.

Nice video!I wonder if I trying to buy a used car and the owner did all of the services and repair at the dealership can I still take the car to there to get a unbiased inspection? And if I don’t even going to buy a car from them can I still go talk to the people in sales team? Will they even want to have conversation with me?

Please recommend a good vw shop in San Antonio tx. No dealership please Those places here quote the repairs without opening the hood! Last month I ask for a repair of my a/c system on my GTI 06. the advisor said: -it will be like $1,200. To Change the complete system, lines, compressor,etc.- He don't even know what was wrong with it. I hate dealerships!,!

I gotta start looking for a Ford mech this week that isn't gonna rip me off and change out parts that won't fix my truck. I was driving down the road today at 60mph until the driver front wheel started bouncing like it was about to fly off I kept it on home and when I reversed it into my driveway and straightened it out I heard a loud metal sounding pop😳 nothing looks loose but I don't feel comfortable driving it above 35mph🤔
