Best! These questions (and other self inquiring lessons and insights) should be the foundation of our education system. Everything is externalized in a capitalistic society where we measure consumer confidence, as opposed to individual happiness. 👏👏👏

Haha! "Ohms Law" I can totally connect with that experience as an engineer. I have been a problem solver in Silicon Valley for over 30 yrs. and I have always dreaded going to work even though I am fascinated about how things work. I Have experienced little success in finding an empowering atmosphere within the technical corporate workplace. You my friend are empowering others and this makes you a TRUE success. You are a great role model for teaching others to acknowledge their true gifts through soul searching. Thank You... A quote from ancient wisdom of what success truly is, "Success is not how much money we make or how much we achieve new heights or how many people we help, success is changing what we believe about ourselves" Remain Beautiful Andy

Hi Andy! I am a career changer who poured over your KZitem channel, Spotify, website, Interview Intervention book during my job search - and it all really helped me land a job at a company that I LOVE. My current boss told me he was immediately impressed that I took notes during my in-person interview! Currently watching this video to help me develop my career objectives in my new role. Side note: I recommended one of your videos to my dad after hearing how miserable he was commuting to a job that he hates. The video I shared with him was about how no one is too old to make a career change. Next thing I know he tells me he's quitting that job and working from home for an old client of his. I'm not sure if you're the reason why he made this change, but I'm so proud of him for betting on himself and doing something to make his situation better. Thanks for your positivity and energy! You are making a difference :)

Going to switch over to an IT gig where I can get face to face with clients and let my empathy do the work for me. I can't compete with server geeks because I like humans more than computers ultimately, but I can definitely relate well in a human interaction.

@Andrew LaCivita this video was eye-opening! It helped me realize that like you, I like helping people. People come to me to help them solve their problems, find information, help them figure out how to do things. This is what actually excites me and makes me feel great. Do you have any videos on figuring out what kind of business to start and starting your own business? And, when you started out how much did you know actually know vs. learned along the way? Most hold back for fear of not having all the answers from the get-go and fail to see themselves as qualified.

@@andylacivita Yes, I want to do something that I absolutely love. I thought about a bike store, but know 3 people that own them all around where I live and it's extremely tough with all the online shopping. If I competed or was a triathlete, perhaps but despite everyone having money where I live people don't want to pay. I keep thinking and will have to keep thinking. I used to think job search coaching because after 3 layoffs you see what works and what doesn't (you know) & I'm much better at helping others than myself. Lol, don't worry I'm not going to pursue that.

Hello Andrew, new subscriber here from Canada! I feel so inspired by you and your videos. I'm kind in a rut right now. I'm 61 years old, working in the Health Care field for 10 years. I do love my job, it does gives me energy to know i am making a difference in other peoples lives. Unfortunately there are so many cutdown and staff shortage that it's really worning me out, with breakdowns and exhaustion. My question for you is how to keep motivated and not lose sight of that passion i still have burning inside me?! I love what I do and I have been told I am very good at it but I'm also facing challenges finding my "dream job" as I'm in the process of changing companies. Thank you so much for your time and dedication!!

Note for self: -Look back in your life and find the common theme that permeates everything -What energizes you? Acting turned out to be what I was always meant to do. Since I started doing it professionally, I’ve experienced nothing but joy and success at it. But you remind me that I need to invest more of myself in it to be more successful. So thank you for your encouragement. I just wanted to share, in line with what you said, and experience I had one day showing up for work, for another typical fourteen hour day of making great television after many miserable years in the wrong career. I was working on the HBO series ‘Show Me A Hero’ in New York, and within ten minutes of arriving no less than four people-cast and crew-said things like, “Oh, thank goodness you’re here! I love working with you! There’s nothing to worry about. You’re so professional.” I’ve heard such comments again and again as an actor, even from famous stars and directors, but that morning was truly special because it was just background work, and I was one of hundreds working on that show. I never heard such a thing in my years of corporate life. In fact, entirely the opposite. I often struggled just to show up on time, and yet my schedule as an actor is hellish by comparison. I wake up before the alarm, at insane hours, prepared, energetic, and eager whereas when I had an office job I regularly had to drag myself to work, highly caffeinated before, and often inebriated after. I have a lot of stories on this point, but I feel that is the one that is most pertinent because people struggle to be actors, and yet it comes to me naturally. It’s what I was always meant to do. Sure, I’m looking for a full time salary gig in the industry, now that I’m in the right industry, but I may just find that I’m already where I need to be, and so I should put more energy and risk into my success in what I’m doing now. Thank you for reminding me of that.

Even the physical workspace is very Industrial Revolution. I get it that at the beginning people needed to sit in rows, in cubicles, everything at 90 degree angles, but technology has advanced since then. However, you might be under the impression that an actor’s work environment is better, or even pampered. Exactly the opposite is true. You could be stuck standing on set for hours at a shot, or sitting on a folding chair waiting to go to set. In fact that’s more often the case. It is called ‘base camp’ for a reason. It’s actually a very challenging job. But what’s great about the cast and crew (crew are exactly as I imagine pirates actually were during the golden age) work environment is that there are a lot of rules about how we go about the work day, who can do what and when, our meals are pretty damn nice. It’s not a job with a lot of perks, there are extremely few moments where you can relax like you can at a desk job, but still we love it. That coffee cup on the table of the first episode of the new season of Game of Thrones, that’s caused by an actor so tired of doing the same lines and actions over and over again, in costume, for hours, that (s)he forgot to stow that thing before the camera started rolling. That coffee was probably the only thing keeping the actor conscious. Lucky it wasn’t the actor’s smart phone. On second thought, maybe the work environment does have something to do with that. I rather be up and about for fourteen hours than sitting at a desk for seven-unless I really loved my job. I feel that whatever my next salary job is, I’m going to love it, period.
