Why on earth would you get new wheels with an offset that still required you to use spacers? Why not just buy wheels with an offset that fits your needs?
@overlandingworld
Ай бұрын
Because we didn’t buy the wheels new. So it was significantly cheaper to buy a set of used wheels and spacers.

Hey guys! Love all the videos. I did the smoking joes lift from 1stgen off road. 4 in lift. Got the adjustable UCA. I only put a spacer in the front. Getting ready to put 35’s on. Do my question is do you think I’ll still need to cut or hammer the body? Thanks.

What’s up! I just subscribed to your channel. I have 2003 tree with 34’s on it. Trying to get my channel off the ground. Very informative video! I love the part where you are just like, so just bash it with a hammer. 😂 This is exactly what I did on mine haha. I’m definitely going to be doing 35 or 37’s when my bfgs run out. What brand tires are you running?

Not super educated on the Sequoia side of things, but don't you think an offset of around +25 would have reduced some of the cutting that was necessary? Also I'm shocked you need spacers with a 0 offset. 0 offset alone didn't give enough UCA clearance?
@overlandingworld
2 жыл бұрын
We found the wheels on offer up locally so we kind of made modifications around the wheels. No the 0 offset did not give enough clearance the spacers were needed.
@triumph13

I've been doing research on the Tundra, so very close to the Sequoia, but on paper is seems that a -12 offset is needed to run without spacers with a 12.5" wide tire, or the 315. I'm thinking about getting extended studs and running a 0.5" slip on spacer with my 0 offset wheels to minimize the cutting.

What about the gear ratio? What about speedometer offset? Not to mention the aluminum spacers causing wheel bearing premature wear. You got the tires on and hurt the performance and handling of your truck. If you've never experienced the "death wobble" you don't want to. It's both tires wobbling and around 35-45 miles per hour at different planes. You can't stop and you can't speed up. You just have to ride it out. I'm not trying to be a d#@k I'm just trying to help you be safe and protect yourself and others on the road. The 35s look great on your truck but chrome won't get you home.

Yes, vehicle manufacturers design their suspension geometry and drive train system around a selected tire size, and increasing your tire size will have drastic effects on those, but we are building a vehicle that can crawl over boulders and drive at 60 mph in the desert so staying stock is no longer an option. The speedometer is off by about 8mph and we actually like how it feels with the stock gears a lot less touchy on the street. Regarding spacers having wear on the bearings that is true but critical components on vehicles are designed with fairly large factors of safety and a 1.5in spacer would only increase the moment load on the bearing by a safe amount. So far we have done about 10k miles on our old bearings and they are still holding up fine when they wear out we will replace them with OEM units. And the death wobble that you mention is mainly an issue on solid axle vehicles and so far we have never experienced it on any of our vehicles.
