****FYI LADIES**** I strongly recommend investing in a glass nail file! My nails always tore on the sides like the one in this video until I got one myself! They file your nails down with such smooth edges that it becomes rare to tear them anymore. Also, for the ones that don't know; always file your nails in the same direction which will also lead to less breakage & tearing. Jojoba oil mixed with castor oil, equal parts, makes your nails grown faster, better & make them more bendable so if you catch one it will slightly bend instead of snapping off. 😁🙌👍💅💪

What do you do with the joboba/castor oil? Consume, or soak the nails? How much, how often? Thanks Ashley!

@@lishayost144 Definitely don't recommend consuming even small amounts of castor oil as it's a very effective laxative, haha! Not sure if jojoba can be consumed, but I'm sure Ashley meant that you should apply the oils to your nails. I use a rollerball of jojoba with a drop of lavender EO and apply periodically throughout the day in wintertime, particularly after washing my hands. The lavender really isn't necessary; I just like the smell.

Physics 101: Subject a thin plate of matter to the wrong kind of pressure, and it will break, no matter what you do to the edges of the item. I use a nail glass file and my nail still broke. I also oil my nails every day, often multiple times, with jojoba and vitamin E. I take biotin to improve my nail health. The filing and etc aren't the problem. Sometimes things happen and the nail breaks. All you can do is cut or patch and move on.

My Nana (a professional Cosmetologist) does a similar technique only she uses toilet paper, peals the piece in half so that she has two separate thinner pieces, measures it to her nail, cuts it down to size, and uses top coat to secure it in place; she does use a couple of coats and always lightly buffs the nail afterwards. It doesn't always last as long as 2 weeks but it does the trick.

Just wanted to let you know that after 3 years of you posting this video it is still super needed. I am a nail bitter, but I've managed to not bite my nails for like, IDK it feels like 6 years but probably close to 2 months, and I broke my middle finger nail right in the corner. I was devastated. All my hard work down the drain! It kept getting caught on stuff and I knew if I didn't fix it soon I was gonna rip it off. I found your video and this worked amazing. So thank you for keeping this up for nail bitters everywhere!

I did this... A MONTH AGO, working in my orchard, I whacked my "bird" nail against the wagon, & it cracked half way across, above the quick. My nails had 1/2" tips at the time, dangerous since my nail plates are not deeply enough set into my fingertips to adequately support that much length. I removed all the polish off the cracked nail; GENTLY evened the surface of the crack with a GLASS NAIL FILE, including filing the length back to 1/4" to take pressure OFF the crack... then applied the teabag bandage directly over the crack on top of SUPERGLUE... One drop smoothed into the crack w/tweezers, THEN placed the teabag bandage over top & smoothed it completely flat over the crack into the glue, leaving an edge of the bandage that I then folded UNDER the edge of the tip side, anchored with a scant drop more of glue. Once dry, I applied 2 coats of high quality base coat, 2 coats of color, allowing ample time to set(THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between "dry" & SET!!!). 12 hours later, I top-coated. I work with my hands constantly & ALWAYS WEAR GLOVES. I actively garden, work on my vehicles & yard equipment... shower, washing my hair, TYPING!!!, cooking...laundry... You name it!!! I usually have 10-12 coats on my nails, mostly top coat, by the time I REDO MY MANICURE... but my protocol lasts 2 WEEKS WITHOUT CHIPPING!!! I have changed polish 2x now, & THE BANDAGE IS SOLID!!! The nail tip is slowly growing out... ZERO PROBLEMS!!! I'LL NEVER USE REGULAR NAIL GLUE AGAIN!!! LOCTITE SUPERGLUE 1000%. THIS IS AN UTTERLY AMAZING "FIX/HACK" FOR A CRACKED NAIL!!!!!!!!!💞💜💞

I have used super glue on a delaminated purple nail caused by a crushing injury in the nail bed weeks ago. Super glue made the nail extremely brittle and chip apart causing more problems. Super glue MIGHT be ok for a little rip at the edge that you will grow out quite soon, but a purple nail caused by a crushing injury will take 3-6 months to grow out so super glue is definitely not good to use. Two months are bad for sure. It took a month for the delamination to grow out from under the cuticle. Then another two months to grow out the delamamination line and then you have a screwed up wavy gravy nail, but at least the nail bed is protected and cohesive. Right now I have a month more to grow out the delamnation line and I am going crazy. Super glue is too brittle causing more damage and doesn't hold for more than a day even with loads of nail filler on top. I am ready to try gorilla glue . . . the foaming kind. The the clear white polyurethane might be good tho. Both take longer to dry, but a bandaid can hold it together until it drys. The nonstick pads on bandaids generally don't stick to glue so that works great. Any kind of strong glue, but not super glue!

I have never done this before and have a couple of questions about this, sorry if they seem obvious. Would superglue or even base coat be a reasonable alternative? And does the glue not seep through the crack into the nail bed? Secondly, how do you know when and how to remove the glue again? Also, I saw someone on KZitem claim that this method is unsanitary due to using a teabag (something about the oils from the tealeaves causing fungi/bacteria growth in the crack of the nail). Do you know if this is true? I've not seen anyone else say this. I'd be grateful if anyone could answer my questions, I just don't want to mess my nail up any more.

Thanks for the video!! I had not 1 but 1 nails to repair! Whew! Hopefully this trick lasts at least 2 weeks!

You're welcome! Mine lasted longer than that, but it's easy to touch up if needed! :)
