The screw is a current adjustment screw. My 1990 Cadillac Deville FSM specifies that the horn should draw between 4.5-5.5 amps. The horn will make a "mooing" sound if too much current is drawn and a "groaning" sound if too low. I am not sure if this applies to all vehicles but it should help you get in the ballpark.

Thank you for this video .I would like to point out that the wire that runs thru the steering column provides a path to ground to trigger the horn relay . The power at the relay ( positive ) is constant .

You state that there is power coming up to the horn switch. This is not really the case. The power goes to one side of the relay coil, the horn switch provides the ground in order to activate the relay and make the horn work. You can measure voltage at the horn contact when the horn is not in use but what you are seeing is the voltage that has passed through the coil of the relay.

You're right. I misspoke. Some 4 prong relays could require power through the horn switch, but in this 3 prong setup the horn is completing the circuit.

@@RaybuckAutoBodyParts Just wanted to clarify that so someone wouldn't attempt to run 12V pos. thru the horn switch and create a whole new issue. I help many classic car guys with electrical gremlins and I've seen many attempts at repairing them in interesting (albeit incorrect) ways. Keep up the videos, things like this are what make KZitem such a wonderful resource!

Raybuck Auto Body Parts nope, I press the horn and nothing happens. It used to work 3 days ago. I checked the connections by the horns in front of the grill and they are done

@@GenerationOldschool If you have power to the horn itself, then the horn may have gone bad. If there's no power anywhere then you may have just blown a fuse. If it was working a few days ago, then I'm guessing it's either a fuse, the relay or the horn itself.

My horn just started going off and won't stop I checked the button that's better than expected would a corroded relay cause that? It's a 49 pontiac

Typically that's caused by the horn ring constantly making contact, which can be caused by a worn out spring. There's a chance that the relay went bad, but usually the relay would remain open and the horn just wouldn't sound.
