FOR ANYONE ELSE for whom this doesn't fix your problem: the part that the seat and springs go into is the "cartridge" which can also be pulled out with a bit of persuasion. I actually pulled it out by accident while following this video, and noticed the "legs" of the cartridge had O-rings that were completely worn down. I went to Home Depot and got 10 replacement O-rings for $2.50 (I looked up the correct size online based on the part number, which looks to be the same as in this video: O-rings were 9/16" ID, 11/16" OD). THAT was what fixed my leak, and was only one extra step to remove the cartridge. This video was great by the way. It gave me the confidence to try this even though I know nothing about nothing when it comes to plumbing!

For those of you that do not know when you have your home built make sure that the contractor install Delta products throughtout your new home. That way anytime any Delta item leaks or stop working you call and tell them what you need and they will sent it or them to you absolutely, FREE! I'm a Air Force Veteran and have had to new homes built and they are equipped with all Delta everything. I have never paid one-penny for anything. Even the shipping and handling is free. That way you won't have to clean any old plastic parts before you replace them. Everything will be new.

Thanks for your Sevice...🇺🇸 Well this info is good to know..we replaced our shower faucet with a delta about 5 years ago(to me it still seems new but it's dripping a fair bit now). I definately expected a better lifespan than that from Delta - that's why we bought Delta. I'll have to check with out local shop and see if they'll honor the warranty. Thanks again....

BTW, if there is something stuck that will not move, bring a pot of vinegar to just starting to boil and pour it on that part. It may be beneficial to first wrap the part with a rag so that hot vinegar has more working time. This has worked for me countless times.

Thanks so much for this great video. Our shower was leaking 10 gallons a day (two five gallon home depot buckets) and today I looked for the seals at HD, but couldn’t find the exact ones so I just changed out the entire cartridge (Delta Part RP19804). This might be best for some as it replaces both valve seals on both sides, plus the white upper cap seal and it’s as easy as pull out and pop in. Watching this made it so easy to do it ourselves. @@ChickFixUSA you are welcome. I just turned the water back on and it appears to still be leaking. I have a few washer videos, though not specifically about shaking. It's possible that it might just be unlevel at the feet at the bottom. The little feet underneath the washer are adjustable, usually just by twisting them in or out, to make the whole thing level. You can get an inexpensive leveling tool at a hardware store to check, both side-to-side and back-to-front. Then it's just a matter of screwing/unscrewing the feet individually until it's level.

@@skim193 Yes, tell me about that! I had 3 plumbers come fixed my burst pipes, water leaking issue and even the malfunctioning of main water shutoff on 3 separate service calls in April. I waited more than 10 days for the first one who did at least two and a half hours' work searching for broken pipes and charged me a very reasonable price for $400 (parts and labor plus pulling away toilet/vanity/cabinet and opening up drywall). Unfortunately, he left for another appointment after that and left me feel so frustrated. Then I found someone who could come in a week, not after a month. I feel this younger "master plumber" overcharged me a lot for his work about an hour and a half. With the open up of most drywall in the house, he easily found the last burst pipe and the leaking shower control valve at the adjacent newly opened bathroom wall. He initially quoted me $250 for the broken pipe repair. However, he added $250 for pulling away the vanity cabinet and opening up a small part of drywall in another bathroom (would ask extra $200 more if he'd come back to reconnect the faucet!). He even said I wasted his time on the first visit when he could not start the work after giving an estimate. Since the visit came with a service call fee if they're not hired for the job. That said, his work cost me a total of $700 but he actually lived just one block away from my subdivision! The third plumber's service call was placed online, which provided the next or second day service (not 3 or 4 weeks' wait), so that was much efficient but indeed quite costly for 20 min's work. Instead of repairing the main water shutoff valve or part (it was unable to be shut off by my contractor) and the adjacent leaking water drain, he cut the copper pipe and placed a separate ball gauge/valve control above the faulty switchoff. With a small discount (1st time customer?), the total charge plus the service call fee were close to $450. I have never realized plumbers would make such a good money on me within a few weeks. That being said, if you learn to DIY, you can and will save a lot, maybe down the road even enough for a new kitchen renovation!

Aa far as silicone goes for around the beauty ring. Some of the newer ones say you don't have to apply sealant. I would recommend doing so with that specific on. Especially if it's against tile. The grout lines leave little voids where water could possibly get behind there and get stuff wet that you don't want to be wet.
