I was about to toss my 1995 Stihl FS 85 into the scrap heap. It stopped running smoothly, smoked excessively, and was difficult to start. Then I watched your video on string trimmers. I pulled the spark arrester screen out of the muffler and cleaned it per your video. 10 minutes later I have a smooth running machine. Thank you for saving me hundreds of $! Chic

It costs a little more to have a pre-spooled line, but when you're in the middle of a trimming job kzitem.infoUgkx429xwEjNPnwzQohFrURRyKF51YfOD_Du , it is so nice to just pop out the old one and pop in a new one. Excellent video! I just worked on my Husqvarna 128LD and learned most of what is covered here by trial and (luckily not too much) error. I found gunk had built up in the return line which allowed the engine to start, but die with any application of throttle. I ran a soft copper wire through the ports on the carb and checked the diaphragm, which was OK. Reassembled and started up fine. Other than spark plugs, that was the first maintenance on that engine in eight years. Also, thanks for showing the technique for threading the lines!

Filter fell out, one insert connector fell out. lol rotted fuel line. However I did order the CHEAPEST replacement I could find(11.98). Upon delivery I realized I needed the adjustment tool🤯. So 18.00 all together. It started right up and a few minutes of adjusting I was Happy Happy. Your videos are great. Next time I will follow your expertise implicitly 😊

Had the exhaust clogged with carbon deposits 35 years ago on a lawn boy 2 stroke engine. What a great feeling when I was able to fix it myself very similar to the way you did (light hammering on a screw driver for the real tough deposits). This was the first engine fix I ever did. This lesson taught me to mix the gas and oil by precise measuring instead of eyeballing it :).

Old video I know, but I recently bought a Husqvarna 122 lk weedeater from tractor supply , it was new someone brought it back and said it didn't run right , took a chance on it , it would crank and idle but not Rev much , I tinkered with it adjusted the carb special tool splined screwdriver to adjust jets , it ran good and runs good but acts up and don't wanna crank then it acts like it's starving for fuel then runs great , think I'm going to beat on the exhaust and clean the carb out now ! Started on the 2nd or 3rd pull and in no time it was idling with no choke and had snappy throttle response. Thanks! Well done.

It was fun watching you work on this puppy. I love how quiet the new Husqvarna engines run, even for 2-cycle. I own a Stihl FS250R which is a monster of a brushcutter, and no longer made, another example of EPA overreach. And while it is an amazing machine, its a little much for an around the house trimmer, far too much weight, noisy, and of course emissions. If somebody lets their yard get 2-feet tall though, you'll need it to tame the yard lol. I also own a Honda 4-cycle 35cc trimmer, which is also commercial, about 2-pounds lighter then the Stihl FS250R, but its far quieter, better emissions. I still need to use a harness with it, but they got a home owner grade that is 25cc which you probably won't need it.

A week later I smelled gas in the garage again and found that gas was leaking where the line went into the tank. I pulled a little line out of the tank, got the ridge in the line away from the hole and it has stopped leaking. I'm wondering if I got knockoff line, What other brands do you recommend? Good Video. I know this is an older video but I have the same model Husqvarna with the same issue. I had replaced it with a Cordless Ryobi, which has been working great but I’d like to repair the Husqvarna, for a backup.

If the fuel line is the cause of the 128LD problems, is there a different kind of fuel line you can use instead of the yellow one? You have great videos!!!

As always, great video. Thank you. Question: Is there a gasket that goes between the carburetor and the air box?
