Wouldn't it be better to wipe the dirt and grime off BEFORE pulling the cylinder plug? Just a thought.

I needed the jack right away and i've used engine lubricant. Well, it's definitely thicker but it worked. Can't say i'll lust but it did the job. The piston is retracting visibly slower but it does. Thanks man, you saved me from buying another one on the rush.

Cheers big ears! I left 2 trolley jacks on there side thinking they where sealed sytems for a road trip. Both can't jack there own weight now. But now I know, this make me think not to over fill them as the cap might fly of and squirt you in the face if you let it down to quick. That exlains why my second hand engine lift done the squirt a few times, had to wrap rags around the port. Don't want that in your eyes.

I bought hydraulic fluid. Emptied the old junk out. filled it. Pumped the jack as far as it would go, which was llittle or nothing. Then I bled it by backing off the pressure regulator screw . Looked for air to come out pr screw, which it did. Did this ten or so times and it worked.!

One question, at 1:10 wouldn't you want to clear the debris from around the plug before remove the plug rather than after? It would seem to me that doing it after risks some of the debris falling into the fluid reservoir and eventually getting into the mechanism.

Mine pumps up but, makes noise and comes right back down. I have a thin layer of oil on the cyclinder shaft. is that normal or you think it's definitely a leakage? I am thinking it's the seal/oring giving up. How do you know what oring size to order? do they have numbers on them?I mean it's not jacks are cars where you can order spareparts by just searching under the make. If you suggest the problem might be something else please tell me what other things it could be and how to fix it.

You can use automatic transmission fluid to fill them. Normally you place the jack vertically and fill it till it reaches the filler plug.

If it were that simple I'd have all my three Jacks working. 1st One of my 1250kg trolley jack stops lifting so I clean it and replace the oil as you have done no it doesn't work so I buy another this time a two tonne Jack still near brand new and that two stops working replace the oil still doesn't work so I end up buying an industrial type 3 tonne workshop trolley jack and what do you know after travelling around with it in the back of my ute I get it off to use and that doesn't work either I replaced the Jack oil in that which also makes no difference so what am I missing here why do I end up with so many hardly used Jack's that won't work and I'm not alone so many people I know also end up with scrap metal please give me some relevant information other than the basics

I got exactly the same jack and probably from another "manufacturer". I guess they sell them by the trackload and whoever distributor sticks their own """"brand"""" on it. Those are so cheap that I suspect even BRAND NEW have low oil. I just checked mine and it's DEFINITELY not topped without any leak and without any use. PS. I guess it's a good idea for anyone to immediately get oil for it and immediately top it up at the start and kepping it like that. After years, fully flush it.
