Thanks so much Bill! I tried to tighten the nut on mine with no joy so called a plumber. He wanted to charge $120 to tighten a bloody nut! I told him to get stuffed lol. Decided to see if you had a video showing what tool I need and sure enough you’ve come to the rescue again. I’ve now ordered some tube spanners and will fix it myself. You don’t happen to know how to get a really old egg stain out of carpet do you? An egg got dropped and went unnoticed for a bit. Get chickens they said. It’ll be fun they said 😂😂😂

Hi Bill, your videos are terrific!!!Your explanations are also easy to follow. I need some advice in replacing the plastic nut holding the spout beneath the wash hand basin that has broken and fallen off. The basin has two taps and the spout in the middle. The copper piping underneath is one horizontal pipe with three up-stands which are the three inlets to each of the two taps and the middle spout. The difficulty I am having is that I cannot insert the nut to the spout inlet unless I undo the nuts to the two taps to lower the three inlets to insert the spout nut. Is this the only way it can be done? The nuts to the two tap inlets are extremely tight and there is not much space at all to manoeuvre a normal spanner. Do I also need to install a washer before replacing the nut, it didn’t seem like there was one before. I will be replacing it with a brass instead of a plastic nut. I would really appreciate your advice. Thanks, Charlie.

@jakeschaffer1431
3 жыл бұрын
Go to your local hardware store. For pocket change you can get what they call a lock washer. So fist take the nut off the bolt completely and take it with you to size it up with the bolt. Put the washer on and then secure it with the nut. That should solve your issue. Good luck buddy.
@jakeschaffer1431
3 жыл бұрын
If you really want to secure it....buy a tube of locktite. Put a dab of that at the base of the bolt and secure the nut. Let it dry for awhile before you go to use it.

Very helpful, tube spanner worked a charm. But I have a second issue. Which is that the arm above the sink is very hard to rotate. Which in effect is why the entire thing comes loose underneath. Can any share tips on how to lessen that? Even when it’s not snug underneath, still hard to rotate.. 🤔

@@billshowto will check it out 👍 I’m in a rental. And this is a brand new tap. Was just replaced. It is far less quality of what was there before. My guess is that there wasn’t an available cartridge to replace on the existing, which was leaking. Thanks for the reply
