Wow just seeing this out of the box kzitem.infoUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

Watched about 6 such videos; this was the best. A polished performance, skilled hands and good technique. Great alternatives for the intermittent wrapper. And thanks for the terminologies - will make it easy to find a few selected items to facilitate the garage process. Don't mind my friends using my spinning rigs, except when they step all over my eyes.

The rods aren't theirs so they don't take care of them like you do, with friends like that who needs enemies.

That's easy enough,I have never tried this but here lately when ppl throw poles away I'll get them to practice putting eyes on,or I'll take the eyes off and keep them for spares, thanks for the video man

Thanks for posting - especially for showing both the professional and amateur ways to do it. I bought an inexpensive dryer a while back thinking I would also be able to wrap with it (which I can't - it is only for drying). I will try the fly-tying bobbin / thumbtack approach next time. Also good to know that 5-minute epoxy can be used in a pinch. I didn't realize it would be flexible enough.

great job from captain chris, but a tip guys dont sight align your guides looking down the rings face up, as an optical illusion can effect your ability to align them. always sight them down the spine so the guides are facing down as you would normaly see the rod when fishing, trust me you will be so much more accurate at aligning your guides...

Super well done tutorial with helpful alternatives to the pro equipment! I really appreciate this. One thing I noticed was you removed thread wrap that was above the eye but didn't replace it on your repair. Is that extra thread wrap just for aesthetics or does it serve another purpose? Appreciate the time you put into this video to make it a quality tutorial.

Great job Chris. I recently made a purchase of a couple of quality rods and reels for surf fishing. One of the rods needs to have 3 guides replaced, but I can't find anyone out here in the upstate NY boonies that does it. Your superb video has me convinced that I can actually do it myself. I have a homemade winding jig given to me in 1972 by an old friend. I never used it, but found it and dusted it off in preparation. I just have a quick question if I may? I was told by the fellow that I bought the rods from that I had to use a special guide made by some Japanese company I never heard of. I see nothing particularly special about them, but then again, I know Jack Squat about saltwater fishing tackle. Can't I go to Bass Pro or Cabella's and find something that will work as well for a Novice? Thanks for your advice. I am now an avid follower. Happy fishing!

NEVER GO AT A ROD WITH A RAZOR BLADE!!! A little heat will, soften up the old epoxy and allow you to unroll the old thread the same way it went on And don’t glue the new eye on before you wrap, a little tape will hold it until you get a few wraps on.
