Thank you sir, this problem was driving me crazy, thought it was the trigger / switch failing at first.

Thanks Bob, you've solved my problem - I discovered that I hadn't replaced my filter properly so the little switch wasn't pressed. I owe you a pint!

The little cyclone tubes get easily clogged also. Buy yourself some 2cm pipe cleaners and just fish them into each of the 6 tubes, no disassembly necessary. Personally I never wash filters with water. Filters are often made from blown polypropylene which is easily damaged and clogged up by water or alcohol. Just tap them out or use another vacuum to reverse vacuum them. That's usually enough to restore them to service.

Nice video! Thanks. I am trying to remove my battery of DC 30. You just pulled the battery off. Mine has at least 1 screw of which is stuck. I tried the elastic band method to get the screw out but it won't budge. any suggestions

Mine is very loud. Removed everything like you did. Just motor left. Still very loud with a little smell also.

The flashing light also means there is less than one minute of charge remaining as per the Dyson instructions. If it's flashing rapidly it means it's either too hot or too cold and not to use.

I suspect you're talking northern hemisphere, Bob. No little filter switch in the southern half, unfortunately. Mystery moves to the next episode. A just-too-clever design, imo.

Hmm, there is no switch on my DC30, and it works without pressing it. However it works only for seconds, so do you have any idea how to help?

Trevor Appleton just press the button on the handle and pull the battery off

Some later models have two screws holding them in rather than the release button on the back. One screw on the back of the handle, one 'inside' under the filter.

Paying the amount you do for a Dyson, I would not expect to have to spend time testing it and then having to buy new parts or a battery. Best thing, buy something less expensive that you can then just but another one if it brakes, at a much lower cost. I'll never have a cordless Dyson! Rubbish 😊

I'd prefer to denigrate Dyson's reputation until they make a world-wide recall and replace them with a with a better machine. I'm no planet alarmist, but we could treat waste with more respect. A just-too-clever design, imo.
