This has happened above our dishwasher. I assume from the steam. You can see the join of the two peices of gyprock underneath. Would i need to do something to secure that before using the mesh tape?

Awesome tips mate. Love your clear concise instructions. If I may add, please wear gloves when handling the fibafuse. Not sure if everyone reacts to it, but I did when coming in contact with my bare hands. Otherwise, great instructional video :)

Hey Bill. Love your videos. I’m settling on my first home today. Last night during the settlement inspection I noticed the cracks in the ceiling. And today I thought I bet Bill has a video of that ensure enough you do. My new house also has sagging cornices I was wondering if there’s a way to fix them or if they just have to be replaced?

I have a 20 ft long crack to repair and I'm not confident that I can hand mud the entire joint in one shot and get the tape up before it dries too much to bond well. So I plan on doing it in 2 or 3 sections. Would you recommend overlapping the cut ends of fibafuse or just butting them together?

Hi Bill thanks for the videos, they have been a great help. Just wondering if you have ever had to fix a sagging gyprock ceiling. The glue holding in my 80's built house has given out in the lounge causing the ceiling to belly and expose the joins. I have heard of people propping it up and screwing it at short intervals to refasten it to the roof trusses, then re-taping and plastering the joins. The other alternative is a demo and new ceiling, something I want to avoid due to having old fibreglass insulation. Ever come across this?
@billshowto

This is very common and depending on how bowed and how long it’s been bowed it can be repaired by propping up the ceiling. I will post a video on this next time I come across one

Do you need to prime over the compound before painting?
@billshowto
2 жыл бұрын
Depending on who you speak to. Paint manufacturers will state to prime then paint while many people who paint will say you don’t need to if applying more than two coats. I tend to asses each job individually on whether or not I use a primer. To be safe use a primer. These days you can purchase an all in one paint and prime product which I use a lot 👍

You painted only the repaired area? Or over the entire ceiling? Because in the video the repair is invisible
@billshowto
2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I could not see the failed previous tape until I painted the ceiling. At this point the tape bubbled as it absorbed the moisture from the paint. So I had to remove the old tape and paint just that section as I had just painted the whole ceiling a few hours prior. In short, paint the whole ceiling unless the paint is fairly new 👍

@billshowto

Usually poor installation to begin with. As you can see in this example the previous tape was not in bedded properly which leads to poor adhesion. The fiba fuse tape I used prevents this from happening 👍
