I begin by making shims out of the off cut pieces from the dovetail waste.
Then I glue the shim in the gap and let it dry for about an hour. After it dries, I remove the excess shim by using a flush cut saw and then sand with 120 grit sandpaper. To see if all of the glue has been removed, I wipe the board with denatured alcohol. This will also show me what the board will look like with finish on it.
