Eric, thanks for taking the time to post this - VERY helpful with my kdss 4runner. Quick question: I continuously run into an issue where my PCS / VSC / Multi terrain select malfunction, and cruse control and crawl control don’t work. This was never an issue before a lift. My truck has TSS. The truck’s steering alignment has never been good since I bought it new from Toyota - always tracks to one side. Any idea why I get the PCS issue and how it can be resolved? (Goes on and off too). Thanks in advance!

Thank you for this. I have a 2010 Prado 150 VX V6 Auto which developed a drop on the rhs back suspension. 100mm lower than the left side. I tried your solution and the droop persisted. I also tried this one using a ramp for the back lhs wheel without success: kzitem.info/news/bejne/2aqLuJiNb2iIgGk Over the weekend I drove the front wheels up onto my ramps to do an oil change. I used low-range and left her in 1st gear before turning off. After completing the oil change I reversed off the ramps and 24hrs later the vehicle is now level with no lean at all. Beats me why....?

KDSS is a simple closed loop hydraulic system. Oil transfers from one side to the other, when the electronic solenoid valves open. The tech here is opening up a mechanical 'relief' to allow the system a route for internal bypass, to move oil from one cylinder to the other, while the electronics are OFF. It only requires a slight opening of the mechanical bleed reliefs, too much and the potential to leak externally exists. Once the vehicle is leveled mechanically, like this, then the baseline is set for electronic operation. It's a very simple, reliable system that gets messed up by people who don't understand hydraulics. It's not magic voodoo, it's just hydraulics. Bucket trucks have a similar system to keep the guys in the bucket level while they go up in the air.

You seem to know what you're talking about. Did the mechanic on this video for the left lean do in order: lift vehicle, loosen valve, lower vehicle, lift the difference in height, tighten valve, lower vehicle and measure? I'm trying to figure out why he lifted, loosen, lower and then lifted (if that is correct).
@govtfunded

@@holy771111777117 In theory they self level but in practical application they don't do it well. Usually they won't lean unless someone has messed with them but at any rate, 1. Lift the vehicle so all 4 tires are off the ground, crack open both manual bleed reliefs. (1/2 turn is usually sufficient) This is done mainly as a safe method of manually enabling the system to open up without a heavy vehicle putting excess pressure on the hydraulic system. 2. Lower the vehicle so full weight is on the tires. 3. Measure to see which side is low. Lift that side up until side-to-side measurements are even, +/- 1/4". You aren't lifting the tires off the ground, just raising the frame/suspension up so your point of measure is equal side to side. tire to fenderwell, like the tech is doing, works well. 4. Close both manual bleed reliefs and let the jacks or hoist down on the side you raised up. 5. Measure again. 6. If necessary, open the bleed reliefs again and reset the low side. Repeat until as level as you can get it. Always helps to drive it a bit to make sure it's right. Hope this helps!

You can’t. There is a special tool required. You would need to take it to a dealer. That’s why it’s critical you do not over loosen the valves.

I made a DIY Tool with Hydraulic Pressure Test Pump and High side R134a coupler. I had a low pressure code on GX460 and found a leak on the bleeder screw on the front. Tighten it and flush the system then pressurized to 3 Mpa. Got the test pump and coupler from Amazon all under $100.

Question. I added springs to the rear of my gx460. The right rear is now an inch lower than the LR. Do I have to lift all 4 wheels off of the ground before I open valves ? Or can I open valves with 4 wheels on ground and then lift the passenger side of the vehicle?
@residualboulders
2 жыл бұрын
This is interesting. ARB and the ARB vendor that sold me my lift said the KDSS system will auto level itself over time, 4 months after BP51 lift install, mine never did. I spoke to Toyota dealer who told me opening KDSS valves would do absolutely nothing to resolve my lean. If it does auto level over time, would this solution in video not just be a temporary fix? I'd be curious to know. After opening KDSS multiple times to try and fix my lean (with no luck) I finally ended up swapping the BP51 taller A spring in the rear to the LHD Drivers side instead of the Aussie RH drivers side as instructions state. Sits perfectly level now.
