I so appreciate this video. We had a technician who fixed our ice build-up 2 months ago for it to do the same thing. I wished you lived in our state so I would not have to buy a new appliance. I was able to get all the ice off thanks to your demo so I can keep my food till the new appliance arrives. Thank YOU!! So much. You are a good human.

I have this EXACT Samsung fridge for about 10 years this year, got it from HHGREGG. And mine just started freezing up too..and fan stopped also, due to ice build up. And fridge keeps making noise from fan blades hitting ice. Had someone came and replace the entire back panel last week. Today, it stopped working again. Im defrosting it now..11:35pm..dont have the time to wait for 24 hours..just came from the grocery store..with groceries. So, thanks for this video..will eatch till the end to see how to fix the problem permanently. This is a beautiful refridgerator. I dont care whether the ice maker works or not..im more concerned about the refridgerator. Thanks for your video. Very thorough..very helpful.

I got the parts: heating element, wire couplers, and thermostat. The thermostat that was linked is the wrong one (it's too small). so, I left the original thermostat in place, added the heating wire as demonstrated here, and put it all back together. I check back in a month or so to let you know if it's icing-up anymore.

Wow, I wish I would have seen this particular video before. My Samsung gave me problems less than 6 mos in and they sent so many techs to fix or replace the ice maker. Would last a few weeks and then kept icing up. Would just thaw it out but then when the refrigerator part started freezing and then warming up and ruining my food then replaced the thermistor and worked again for a few months. Finally gave up after 3 years of this nonsense and bought a new LG now a year old without any issues. Samsung needs to stick to phones and TVs

Remove the thermistor and attatch an ohm meter to the leads. Put the thermistor in the freezer with the leads and ohm meter outside the freezer. In about 45 mins to 60 mins the ohm meter should read 0 ohms or be considered " closed". Also the heating element should be checked with an ohm meter to make sure it's not burned out, "open". Lastly. There is anothe thermistor, condenser, and heating element in the back of the ice maker that is not discussed in this video. This guy tested nothing, threw parts at it, and required 4 trips to the customers house. What he actually ends up doing is adding a heating element in parallel to the one he never tested.

Excellent video, very thorough. I was able follow your instructions, order and install the aftermarket warmer into the circuit. It is actually fairly simple and it works like a champ. It was freezing up every 30 days, we had to empty the fridge, remove the cover, and defrost it with a hair dryer. IT IS NOW FIXED! A small amount of water under the produce drawers tells me it is melting the ice. Saved me over $2000 for a new fridge. Thanks you!

Since I moved into my new house I've had icing on the shit Samsung fridge they sold us with the home and between adding the additional heating coil, sealing the ice box with caulking, and changing out the thermostat and deicing thermistor I've finally got a fridge that works as intended with no icing. It's likely the two thermostats that solves it for me but it never hurts to do the others and go from there

Thanks for putting up this video, I didn't notice until 1:00 in the morning, That my 6-year-old fridge was making excessive noise, from fan blades hitting all the ice from where the panel had Frozen up..... It's been a particularly hot summer, I'm not surprised something failed, it's what I get for only getting a 5-year warranty 😅. Thank you for the detailed repair, now I know that at most I probably have to order four or five parts, and I can install that myself.

Attention Samsung junk owners, There was a class-action suit that was brought against Samsung refrigerator ice maker problems. Samsung denied any malfeasance on their part but, after waiting several years, they repaired my ice maker issues. They replaced the main circuit board plus all the interior freezer parts. My Samsung ice maker problem has been rectified at their expense and since the repair, My ice maker has been trouble-free. The rest of the refrigerator worked just fine except I couldn't use the ice dispenser for years. You know Samsung could have just fixed the problem quietly but chose to have themselves publicly criticized and forced to atone for a problem that plagued the French door/freezer bottom refrigerators. The defrost method while functional, did not remedy the icemaker issues because the build-up was severe enough to negate using the defroster which is kept a secret from customers.
