Cyber Chase is the Scooby Doo movie I think would be amazing if they revisited it today as a theatrical movie. The levels being different settings in their respected art styles from the 53 years worth of shows and movies (such as Coolsville from a pup named Scooby-Doo and Crystal Cove from Mystery Inc.) . And the monsters are one that we have unmasked before and at first they try to capture them the same way they did last time but it doesn't work this time or at-least one of the monster needs to be captured differently to progress in the game. Add different Scooby Doo gangs in their art styles and have them mix and match with each other gangs. If possible they could bring back the original live action gang idk why but I think that would be amazing to see. Other than the 4 original straight to home movie what Scooby Doo home movie is your favorite?

As a kid this also was my favorite out of the first four direct to video movies. It also didn't hold up as much for me either, although I still like it, and Zombie Island is my favorite now. I really liked all the classic monsters that show up to chase them, and the digital Scooby gang with their old outfits. I especially like how digital Shaggy is wearing his red shirt and blue jeans from the 80's era of Scooby-doo.

I'm surprised that Cyberchase was your favorite of these films, at least before the rewatch. For me Zombie Island was the best of the 4 "The Monsters are Real" Scooby-Doo films. It genuinely scared me as a kid, and I can't say that about any of the other films. I think it helps that it also had an overall darker color palette than Cyberchase. It probably also helps that I love "It's Terror Time Again." Meanwhile Cyberchase just didn't scare me at all as a kid. The design of the villain wasn't scary or creepy at all, the really bright, arguably over so, colors made it a lot harder to be scared imo, and I was way more fascinated by the gang meeting up with their in-game counterparts and also by the idea of a Scooby-Doo video game(look I was 5 in 01, I wasn't very aware of what video games existed). As for the rewrite you proposed, I do like the idea of having all 10 levels being about past villains, but I do wonder if that might have gotten old towards the end. Maybe you could chop the number of levels down considering the movie needed a montage of several levels. Maybe doing 5 levels where you get a new Mystery Gang member each level to help change up the comedic dynamic a bit could work.

This is still my personal favorite Scooby Doo movie, but a lot of your points are valid. I'll always say that I think it could've been really cool if this was a tv show. Like them going through each level in an episode. Either way though, this movie was amazing to me as a kid, and still now. Seeing the original monsters that I grew up watching, coming back to be in this film was so nostalgic and really cool. They still nailed it with the music in the film, and had a lot of memorable chase scenes. The villain was obvious though. Yes!!!! Scoobtober has begun!! 😍 While Cyber Chase is my least favorite of the four movies you will be covering, that isn’t saying much - it is still VERY nostalgic for me. While Cyber Chase does involve a real monster, the atmosphere of this movie feels drastically different from the other three that you will be covering this month. It just doesn’t feel as weird/creepy as the other three. And I just wish we could have seen a little more of the other levels in the game, aside from seeing them in a montage. Long story short - thank you for giving me a dose of nostalgia this week :) I am so excited for the rest of Scoobtober! 🥰

I just simply liked it because it was apart of the movie collection that last used those animation style, but now I see what you're getting at and I agree. Now I do remember not being too satisfied with the level skips. Witch's Ghost and Zombie Island were my favorites. I liked how in Zombie Island it shows how they all moved on in life. Daphne was a breath of fresh air with her having the most character development from the damsel in distress. With Witch's Ghost I like how Thorn is actually 1/16th wiccan which was a nice twist. Also how many witches are actually wiccans were persecuted falsely, but the wiccan was actually a witch the entire time. Both of those films had an extra layer of complexity in their story in my opinion. Now though those are my favorite, Alien Invaders are in their own category. It was more so emotional for me. I don't think I've seen a love story such as this in the Scooby Doo franchise up until that point. The fact they were aliens made it even more so like drama. Love interests literally worlds apart. I was hoping maybe Scooby and Shaggy got to see them again at least one more time, in another film possibly. (Hey they did a sequel to Zombie Island, but we don't talk about that.)

Biggest thing was for a game about Scooby Doo's history, it really fell flat. Why are the levels (Minus maybe the last one) just such generic locations? Would've been cooler if each level was designed around iconic Scooby Doo cases and locations with a fitting ghost to each one rather than stuffing the fan service all at the last level. Also they made the reveal way WAY too obvious even by Scooby Doo standards. Would've been an effective twist if the other scientist was behind it and framed the baseball guy with his overt love of sports as tips to try to frame him.

Scooby Doo on Zombie Island was the main event for a Friday night after school. Witch’s Ghost was a great Saturday night feature, Alien Invaders can also be watched on a Saturday but I prefer the darker Witch’s Ghost to play us out on a Saturday night. Cyber Chase… is the movie you watch on a Sunday afternoon while you dread having to go back to school the next day. 😪😪 It’s still fun enough, the ending where they say goodbye to their game avatars is sweet and feels like a signing off for this era of Scooby Doo that revived the franchise. Also Scooby and Shaggy eating the whole cafeteria was funny.

Aside from Zombie Island, I haven't seen the original four in a hot minute, so seeing vids assessing them has been nice to hear and think about. I think generally speaking for me, this movie was solid enough, I don't think I had any strong opinions on it one way or the other. At least the montage has Hello Cyberdream which I think is a bop. For the games, I played both. Never made progress on the gameboy version cuz I sucked, and I actually played the ps1 version a few years ago and got further than I did as a kid, unfortunatley the VIrus is a pain in the ass final boss and I couldn't beat him. Oh well.

Loved this movie as a kid, had it on VHS and watched it a good bunch. I probably should revisit this film for the heck of it but it is weird that the game that was supposedly about them really didn't feel like it. I really do wish that Warner Brothers allowed the original creators to have the creative liberty that they deserved because Zombie Island is a BANGER... your ideas for what could've been were really cool and if they hired the right team nowadays (Although I don't think that'll be the case because of Velma), a Return to the Cyber Chase with these elements would probably be one of the best Scooby-Doo movies ever. 7:57 your listing of the iconic villains just reminds me how much those villains were intrinsic to the franchise. I have also been a lifelong Scooby Doo fan. I don't remember watching Cyber Chase, but I also somehow do, so I must have at least seen it in passing. I think that it would have been great to revisit the enemies of their past, but I think that it would have been interesting if they started by trying to solve the first case the way they originally did and it didn't work. They then realize that each case (level) can only be solved after they find the levels Scooby Snacks as those are the game's key items. And maybe the details of each level are completely wrong for what it was like in the game. It would also be funny if they used the old door gag as a game mechanic. You enter a door and when you exit, it is a different door.

An interesting take about the levels reflecting locations that the gang have been to before, specifically where they faced a certain monster from an episode of the classic shows. Also a neat idea to place an iconic monster in each level as it's boss instead of saving all of them until the very end like in the original movie. The movie had ten levels and five classic monsters: the creeper, gator ghoul, tar monster, old iron face and jaguaro. If in your version we did see all ten levels and I'm assuming you would have saved the phantom virus for the tenth and final level what other four classic monsters would you of personal picked to place in the other levels leading up to the final one?

While others say it doesn't need to be fixed, I think that you don't quite run with the idea you had far enough. Having the levels be different scenarios in which we find the team having to fight to overcome villains of their past. Like we can keep the Egypt level and have it facing against Pharoah Scamses. Or an airfield/space level against the Spooky Space Kook. Like we could spend the first 3 celebrating some of the best, with a fourth level showcasing the Baseball Specter as a red herring. It looks similar to the virus, so could lead the gang to think it's the cause of things. And the final level is against the Black Knight, made to be terrifying. This leads us to the final half of the film, where the virus returns partway through and is the lighter of the two villains, but works with the Knight to face the others. I'd have the computer version of the team lose to the Knight, causing them to fail and for them to have to start all over again, whereas out hero team eventually do beat the virus with magnets, before beating the Black Knight. The ending stays the same, but hopefully, with the red herring, it becomes a bit of a surprise that its Bill. Though, I'd maybe change his reasoning a bit. Not sure what, but just make it a bit more than just "your game is better than mine."

Nothing too bad One night I had a nightmare that he died, but he lost his last life. He reached out of the tv, gripping my shirt and screaming at me that he didn't want to die, that he was scared of the end. He called out to me by name, and I watched him scream and dissolve into nothingness. I was like 5, and woke up screaming lol

This was one of my favorite films as a kid. Nowadays I'm not a big fan of it and during the final level where they show off previous monsters. One of my problems is how they didn't make better use of past Scooby-Doo monsters ones that are fan favorites. Sure you got the Creeper and Tar Monster who are pretty well known and iconic but they didn't even include the iconic Phantom Shadow, Captain Cutler's Ghost or The Spooky Space Kook. Instead they went with some of the lesser known ones from The Scooby-Doo show like The Gator Ghoul, Jaguaro and Old Iron Face. (I literally did not recognize any of these monsters because I literally haven't seen the episodes they were in until just recently and they really aren't anything special in comparison to the dozens of other ghosts and monsters the gang has encountered so I don't understand why they were brought back for Cyber Chase.)

I think that Cyber Chase is a lot of fun, but it might be the most overrated Scooby-Doo movie. I constantly see rankings that put this in the top five out of all of the Scooby-Doo movies, and as much fun as Cyber Chase is, there are several things that make me wonder if it is benefiting from its proximity to the first three movies (which also benefit hugely from nostalgia). 1. The Mystery: The mystery in Cyber Chase seems really lacking to me. The focus is all on getting through the game rather than solving the mystery, and to compensate for that, the clues that are provided are blatantly obvious. Compare that to Where's My Mummy, which had a real mystery with several twists and turns. 2. Supporting Characters: The Phantom Virus is kind of a cool monster, but the other supporting characters feel very generic to me. I think this might add to the problem I have with the mystery, they don't make for very compelling suspects. Compare that to Stage Fright, which had plenty of memorable supporting characters and different motives for its suspects. 3. Farfetched Plot: This movie has a laser capable of beaming things from our world into a digital world and vice versa. It's even explicitly shown that food can be created in the digital world and then beamed into our world, meaning this invention could possibly be used to solve world hunger. This could possibly be the most world-changing piece of technology invented in the last century...and yet, the characters are only concerned about the video games??? Your mileage may vary. I know that Scooby-Doo already has a pretty high bar for suspension of disbelief, but this is *really* out there even by Scooby-Doo standards. Again, everyone's level of suspension of disbelief is different, but I hear critics rake other Scooby-Doo movies over the coals for inconsistencies in their plots, and yet somehow everyone gives this a pass. The characters being beamed into the video game does allow for a lot of fun scenes, but as you pointed out, much of it is skipped over. 4. The pacing: We spend a chunk of time during the first three levels of the game, then have a montage of levels 4-9, and then spend most of the rest of the movie on the last level. In that level alone, each gang member defeats one of the monsters, then defeats the same monster again during another musical chase scene, and then we get to the climax with the Phantom Virus. As cool as it is seeing the gang interact with each other, this takes up so much of the film that it makes the pacing feel pretty inconsistent overall. Maybe it would have helped if the gang only had to defeat each monster once. I still like Cyber Chase, and I do think it's a good Scooby-Doo movie, but I don't think it's one of the top 5 Scooby-Doo movies. Maybe top 10.

Don't forget that Level 10 had the same chase twice. The same pairs get chased by the same monsters *immediately* after the first chase ends. Feel like maybe some of that time could've gone to another level.

I would also like to say that this movie does remind me slight of Magic Treehouse, even if we are using technology instead of magic.
