Do you fix bose remotes? If so send me a link. Nothing works on it.

kzitem.info/news/bejne/zGZqm62XcIiEqHY Sorry I no longer repair these because 90% of the remotes that were sent in did not have a problem and it was just a waste of everyone's time. The linked video helps people troubleshoot the most common problems.

@@jimvonfeldt6321 All of my ideas are in that troubleshooting video. It can be power, remote settings, base settings, base wiring, broken base.... you need to try the AM radio trick to verify the remote is putting out a signal. It can be a pain to get working at first. I find moving the remote around the radio while pressing buttons works best. It doesn't make much sense where the AM radio will pick up the signal the best. If you try and try and try and can never get the interference noise on the AM radio then it's safe to assume the remote is not sending out any signal for some reason.

It’s 2024 and I thought I would have to retire my Bose remote control model RC28T1-27. However, after purchasing this product and some detective work, my remote is as good as new! In case it may help others, I could not get my remote to work after applying the membrane on the board the first time. I knew I had an issue with my old buttons because I was able to get the keys to work when using a small metallic screwdriver to close the circuit for each button. I even used one of the original buttons I knew I never used and that worked every time for the buttons that stopped working (e.g. power, volume, and channel). In my case, I made sure I had fresh batteries, the battery terminals were not corroded, the remote’s attenae was fully intact (e.g. it didn’t require soldering or replacement), and the circuit board was clean after using 70% rubbing alcohol. Turns out I had a Raspberry Pi sitting right next to my Bose Lifestyle 35 and, more importantly, an HDMI cable running in FRONT of my Bose as it ran to my TV. I thought nothing of it at the time until I realized all my buttons were working using the new membrane when I was right in front of the Bose system. As I moved further away (about 2 feet), my remote would stop working. Turns out the HDMI cable was causing interference and all I had to was move it out of the way so it wasn’t anywhere near my Bose system or, at least, tucked away BEHIND the system. This is a great product and I couldn’t be happier. I wasn’t asked to make this review and just hope others may benefit and give it a shot if they find themselves in a similar situation.

One thing to note which is common in these - if you hear the rattle, it is often because the solder joint to the coil antenna gets broken. Putting in the foam may help, but it doesn't guarantee a good contact on the antenna. Best thing to do is remove the board and examine the solder joints on the antenna coil. If they are broken, re-solder the joints. This generally is why the remote only works very close to the unit (because the antenna is not making a good contact, or contact at all). Excellent video on how to take the remote apart and re-assemble.

My RC25 recently started doing something weird. If i point it directly within a meter of the head unit it wont work. If i point it away or i am down the hallway 5 or 6 meters away it works. I've checked all the usual, battery conections ,antenna joints etc It's wierd. Any advice would be gratefully recieved thanks.

Thanks Bro. I did my remote and it started working beautifully. I used WD-40 Contact Cleaner.

WD-40 is not a good idea. Cleaning the keypad alone is temporary at best. WD40 cleans the metal but the metal usually isn't he problem, it's the rubber pads that wear out. WD40 and other oil or petroleum based products will soak into the rubber and cause it to expand. I've seen that cause the rubber buttons to stick down.

Just mentioning the signal receiving antenna is supposedly inside the power cord, which I had stored folded neatly inside a cable box that also contained a 4-port switch amongst other signal emitting devices. Would try removing and stretching the power cord and transformer to a separate outlet and see it that fixes your problem. I had bought one of these button pads that didn't fix the issue. Still glad it's in since the volume buttons were probably worn out from mashing during testing.

I have a Bose lifestyle 35 with the RF remote that came with it no longer functions as well as a replacement that I’ve been using I’ve cleaned it and looked inside both of them they don’t appear to have any loose connections is there anyway I can use an IR remote instead of the RF they came with the unit to control volume and turn it on and off

Does the remote work when it's very close to the receiver? (Try at the front and back) If so, then your remote has a broken antenna.... even if you think it's not broken.

I got the repair kit and am not happy with the results. While taking the remote apart, several of the clips that hold it together were broken. After the repair, which I did faithfully following your instructions, the buttons don't work as well as expected, and now I have to put the remote much closer than before to make it work. Also, the remote cover does not fit as tightly as before. The antenna is not damaged or loose, and I put new batteries in the remote.

Sorry to hear that. How well the buttons work cannot effect the range of the remote so something else is definitely going on. Broken antennas are pretty common because the antenna is a heavy weight at the end and subjected to a lot of vibration over the years. Some were glued down with white silicone and some were not. When the wires break it's usually obvious but sometimes they are just cracked and about to break away completely or if they are glued down the wires can still break inside the silicone. As far as the plastic side clips, every remote I take apart is different. Often these are old and the plastic has become more brittle. One thing you can do about that is use "Shoe Goo" or E6000 (same stuff) and just put a little dab at each clip and then hold the remote casing closed with weight or tightly wound rubber bands until it dries. But first the range issue would have to be dealt with. Unfortunately it's pretty common for people to think they have button problems when the issue is really something causing the remote not to work intermittently. Button failure will always be heavily used buttons (like volume, etc) and will never effect all buttons the same way. Obviously if the buttons are not the problem, a button repair lit isn't going to solve the problem.

Thank you for your prompt reply. The antenna appears firmly glued with white silicon and no wire breakage is obvious (I can send you photos I just took). Anyway, how can wires break inside the silicone?? If the side clips were to be glued with Shoe Goo, as you suggest, the remote could not be opened again, ever, so that does not seem a good a idea. Perhaps I'll just have to buy a replacement remote after all.

Shoe Goo (E6000) remains flexible forever and can be pulled apart. I find it can also usually be completely removed relatively easily vs most other glues which will typically shatter or break apart. A small dab will hold strong but if you grab it with needle nose pliers and pull it will stretch and typically come off in one piece. I have seen the wire break inside the white silicone many times. Silicone helps but it's flexible and the wire can still bend back and fourth just a tiny bit. Over time that repeated bending will crack metal. Unfortunately it's tricky to test the wire when you cannot see it and it's glued down. The silicone does not come off easily.

Sounds like the antenna is broken. It would need to be re-soldered. Easy job for a technician but it would be difficult for someone without much soldering experience.
