Im getting into fpv, this is very helpful. I have bought everything that you have except to power everything progressiveRC sells a device called the o3 armer. You plug your battery into it and it powers the fan and o3 camera and also gives the camera a signal to allow it to go to full power.

FIRST COMMENT!!! Now we know that it's possible to fly an RC jet with 360 cameras. But there are still more ideas that need to be tested for feasibility: - BB pellet machine guns; - Missiles; and - Flares If any of these three (3) can be modified into an RC Jet, then humanity is one step closer to making a Dogfight Rounament a Reality. Straight-up Ace Combat with RC Jets IRL 🤘😎🤘
even if technically feasable air regulation would NEVER allow it. So not even worth the effort

I just want to be able to BUY a RTF FPV airplane or heli as easily as I can buy a FPV Drone. Whoever makes that, and allows you to choose from models of the F22, F35, F16, F18 or any other popular fighter, will be RICH.
@motionsic

Understand your yearning. But those would be difficult for a FPV noob to fly successfully. And if too easily achievable, you bet an idiot would fly it into a building somewhere and ruin the hobby for everyone. So not sure any manufacturer/vendor would want that kind of liability. The riches you mentioned could easily be lost in lawsuits….

Does the direction your head/goggles is /are facing when you power everthing up determine the camera's forward position? How do you get the camera to face forward when your head is facing forward, regardless of your actual orientation relative to the aircraft?
@motionsic
3 күн бұрын
There’s a center button on the head-tracker. Always recenter - zeroing out the tracker signal before activating the gimbal before flight. Then after flight is finished, always deactivate the gimbal before taking the goggles off your head. It’s part of a pre-flight and post-flight checklist to ensure successful flight and equipment longevity🙂

I am an experienced RC pilot on fixed-wing and gliders. Not flown an EDF jet. Do you recommend the one you used in the video...seems to fly well? And yes, this would be even more realistic in a turbine jet with an on-board microphone. Ultra-realistic with that turbine sound from the cockpit.
@motionsic

I would not recommend this Freewing Zeus 90mm as a first EDF jet - landing speed is high, flight time is short. The Freewing T-33, L-39, Avanti S 80mm are better choices as first jet. Or the new FMS Avanti 90mm, if you prefer a bigger jet: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1oCv33hmoYJoiag

@@technoxtreme178 I love the Viper 90 and have actually setup two of them for FPV, one for myself and another for my son so we can do formation flying. In fact a Viper flight video is what really catapulted my channel: kzitem.info/news/bejne/r2uZqH-jf4xnf6Q I don’t recommend it as a first jet because it can tip stall if flown too slowly or pulled too hard in maneuvers. But if you get used to its behavior in LOS flight first and know its limits. Then it’s a solid pick. I’d pick it as one of my favorite planes all around. Just not as the first FPV plane.

@motionsic
2 күн бұрын
I don’t arm the O3 per se since I have not used a FC nor an Arduino armer board. I just turn off the auto lower power state from Goggles 2 Settings menu. It gives me clear visuals for flying at our RC field albeit not getting “full” transmission power.
@omarivan5362

@@omarivan5362 yeah, in low power state the frame rate sucks and it’s not flyable nor recordable. Full transmission power allows supposedly 10km range. I hardly fly over 1km or at most 2 at typical RC field. So not really an issue for me not getting full power.

Why not just tap a 6S lipo to power the air unit directly? I have never considered using a UBEC to power my air unit. Usually i just use a UBEC to power an Arduino Arm circuit to make the air unit go into high power mode, increasing its power consumption from 10 to 13W. Personally I never fly FPV without a separate battery now. I use a 1500mAh 3S pack for my receiver and FPV gear with a UBEC for the reciever, and my air unit is powered directly from the 3S battery.
@polyscient

Having a separate controls power battery saved my Freewing F-22 once, when the terribly made BenchCraft EC5 2 to 1 Series Adapter melted apart after 3 minutes of full throttle on 8S. It went dead stick but I still had FPV and control, and landed. Never use that blue box peice of junk Motion RC sells to make two packs into one. Always use a wired Series connector. Inside the Benchcraft peice of garbage is a 12GA wire soldered sideways onto the thin edges of the connector cups. It should have 8 to 10 GA inserted into the cups and filled with solder. They built it to fail.
@motionsic

Sure the O3 air unit is capable of handling 6S. But I used the 12V UBEC to power the OG Air unit which was limited to 2S~4S voltage and never had any issues. And since the 12V UBEC only weighs 5 grams, I much prefer the weight savings this way vs carrying a separate 3S battery to power the air unit and worrying about the state of charge on the separate battery. The Arduino Arm circuit is a nice add.

would it be possible to get link to fans that can be used for this? i dont even know what to search for on google
It looks like Rob is using a 12V 50mm x 50mm x 10mm DC fan on his Zeus. I can tell beacause I have a Zeus too and measured the part where his is installed. There are may options and the size of fan depends on your plane and where you're going to put the fan. Defintely dont go smaller than 40m, 50 is good, and you could use whatever DC voltage you have available. 5V or 12V, for exapmple.
@motionsic

@@polyscient You are correct on the voltage part. Use 5V fan if powering from spare receiver channel. 12V if sharing power from UBEC to power air unit - fans use like 0.1 amp. I used 40x40 fan in this case.
