Thanks so much! This is really helpful. I have 246,000+ pm my 2009 Forester and it is past time to be doing these service items. Also, I don't really like to pay anyone to do stuff that I can do myself. I appreciate your information!! Looking into other of your videos now ;)

Thanks Verdayne!!! Yeah buddy, I know you can do it! The hardest part is getting started and of course it takes a lot longer than it normally would because you're doing it for the first time.. just take your time and follow the steps and you will be just fine. Let me know how it works out if you decide to tackle some of this. Leave a NEW comment though if you have a question, so I get notified again, otherwise I will miss it. Thanks for comment buddy:-)

This is the second video of yours that I viewed. And as is normal, the camera work clearly showed the work to be accomplished and dialog made the process easy to follow. You included everything I need to accomplish the fluid change. Thank you again.

@@hurstysgarage I just wanted to tell you that I was able to change the differential oil on my friends Forester.I only replaced the oil in the rear. The oil was quite bad but it looks good in the front and was the correct amount. Thank you once again for making it much easier for me to do it. It went quite well. The plugs were not so stuck. I borrowed the neccesary tool from a friend.Very good greetings. God keep you and your family.

The words “DIFF OIL” are embossed on the bottom of the differential oil drain pan, right beside the differential oil drain plug. You may need a rag to wipe away accumulated grease and other debris to see the embossing.

Hey Christopher, the general outline of steps is pretty much Universal to changing out the differential fluid... the only thing that might differ is make dang sure that you verify that the gear oil is the same viscosity and the fluid capacity might change just a bit. But remember this is just my opinion and is in by no means professional advice, so always consult a qualified technician before performing this action. Thanks for watching!!!

Glad I could help Katie! And I know dang it, lol...I changed it right around the time I did these, but did not have time to do the video, so now you will have to wait the 30,000 miles to get that out of me (shouldn't be too long though, cause I drive a lot):-) Glad to hear that you are taking on these tasks yourself...Absolutely LOVE to see the mechanics lose out on money that should stay in the drivers pockets with easy tasks like these! Keep it up and video coming soon:-)

Hey Chris...its benn a little bit now since I got that part, but I believe that it was from my local Subaru dealer, because they actually were as cheap on that as anywhere else! Plus, I wanted to do it right away, and there was no wait time:-) Thank you for the kind words, and sooo glad this could help you! Sorry I was not able to answer your question with a link, because my Subaru dealer charges a shipping fee to purchase online which would negate any savings you might get from purchasing local.

Sorry for the late response... I always like to use the Subaru brand oils if possible unless it's just out of control crazy expensive which this was really not at least in my area cuz they had a sale on their fluids at the time I bought it.. but you can use your favorite brand if you would like just as long as it gets done is the most important thing, LOL, IMOP:-)

If the vehicle is manual transmission. Your going to find the transmission dipstick where you would find the differential dip stick on a automatic. That is what he meant. So “op” is partially wrong. IMO your video is good.
