This is incredibly helpful! But I have some questions. By taking the skin off the furby would it be damaging the original materials, and integrity of the furby itself? Is it risky taking the skin off of the furby? LIke if I were to show you a video of my furby and the problems I see with it, would you be able to tell me wether or not it a wise decision to take the skin off? Again, I appreciate this video very much there are a lot of useful tips! Thanks!

Ooh, this is a very important question! By taking the skin off a 1998 Furby, you irreparably damage the Furby's original zip-tie, permanently destroy the original stitches that held the Furby's ears in place, almost completely remove the Furby's original securing hot-glue, and cause a considerable amount of fabric wear-and-tear when you undo the Furby's lower ear locks. Because it does cause damage to the Furby's original materials, skinning should really be a last resort when your Furby is absolutely filthy, or has apparent functional issues that need attending to. However, the sort of damage caused by skinning is only "skin-deep" and should not negatively affect the internal functionality or integrity of your Furby at all! It's only risky to skin a Furby if you don't know what you're doing, so be sure to watch a few tutorials first (and take NOTES, collect PROPER MATERIALS) before beginning. Be gentle with the Furby during skinning, don't forget about any faceplate screws or clips, carefully peel back hot-glue on the outer shell of the Furby with a thin flat-head screwdriver, and undo the ear stitches and lower ear locks before trying to pull the skin up. When putting the skin back on your Furby, people ca successfully substitute a new zip-tie, make new stitches for the ears, apply new securing hot-glue, and restore the Furby's lower ear locks to look brand new again. Problems only arise if you skin the same Furby over and over again, so before you put that skin back on, make sure you won't need to take it off again! And yes, if you were to upload a video of your Furby for me so I could see the problems it might have, I'd definitely be able to tell you whether of not I recommend skinning and washing your Furby. Thank you for messaging me, feel free to ask more questions at any time!

@@furbyfanatic4ever Thank you so much for the detailed reply! That helped a lot. As soon as I am able to make a video, I will. Also I'd just like to say that on ebay I saved you as a seller. I really admire your furby work!

Faceplates are way more durable than it seems lol, whenever i bathe mine i squeeze the heck out of it without knowing it can break. Despite me squeezing it super hard it kept it's shape and never snapped

It's ok if you personally want to squeeze the heck out of your Furby's faceplate, but here I'm trying to share the best possible practices when it comes to dealing with Furby parts. I work with Furbys daily, and try to take precautions for their well-being. In my opinion, people should be careful with their Furby skins and faceplates, it's difficult to find a good replacement for either!

Squeezing and bending can easily hurt the plastic of a Furby's faceplate, weakening its structure and causing stress lines to show up in the plastic. Do what you will, but please try to be careful with your Furbys!

Do you think the Woolite also helps to soften the fur?

Absolutely! Although the conditioner does a much better job.
