Is it important to line the “seams” up to 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock? Or is that not important or practical?

Why isn't the heater plate mounted on the same rail as the planer? Manually taking the heater plate in and out of the machine guarantees damaging the Teflon coating in a fraction of the time besides it getting dirtier all the time on the ground. If the machine opened up another 100mm there'd be room for a fittings chuck and make the machine more capable for use as a clamping device for ef. I'm guessing there isn't enough room inside the carriages to accommodate flange faces of long spigot stubs once you get out near the o.d. limit of the machine. A simple lock mechanism would have been great for single sided planning and a cam arrangement for pipe alignment on the fixed carriage. What's the lowest SDR rating pipe at the maximum od limit the machine can handle and how much flex is there? From a contractors point of view this machine would be disappointing A) because you've spent so much to buy it and it's not got a fully automatic welding cycle with the operator only feeding in pipe o.d. and wall thickness B) You'd need a cheap second machine to perform the welds this couldn't do.
