I'm 75 yrs old and every Fall I want to go back to college!! I'm buying notebooks, pens, planners, etc!!! I love Fall! I think Fall also gets you going because the year is going to be over in 4 months and you all of a sudden go--what have I accomplished this year?? Time becomes more important! I also am a New Year's resolutions nerd! If I don't write them down tho--i don't think about them or follow thru! I tape them on my dressing table mirror, so I look at them frequently!! PS: I love being your friend!!

It amazes me how I have never heard of September be the month of "transformation". This year, I decided to end my marriage that no longer serves me or my soul or my mental/emotional health in September. I made that big scary decision to move out and LET IT GO. To prioritize myself and my mental health and now everywhere I look I see "September" is the month. I just love it and take all these as signs. ❤

Thanks Mel for this. The only thing is that I am not comfortable posting about what I do for myself and how I do it online, because there is always someone who tries to ruin it for me and I'd rather keeps things for myself so I don't get discouraged by people's negative comment. For example. I quit one of my bad habits 35 days ago and when I tell people they come with the "oh I hope you'll stick to it" comment instead of the "wow, that's great, well done". So I'll carry on doing my things quietly until I achieve my goals, so other people with negative views and comments are not able to stick their nose into my business. :)

I’m a teacher and I always live in ‘schoolyears’ and you are absolutely right, Mel! Fall: high in energy, productive, making schedules, projects etc. Winter: I do more work in the house, because the days are shorter. So it’s easier to do work at home. Not as a teacher of course, but projects at home. Spring: I’m doing more outside. I’m feeling happy about the weather. I get more energy to finish last things at school and taking care of the last medical administration before… Summer(break): I have no (!) appointments with medical people about my son. It’s my time with my son, myself and my husband. I’m tired of all the work in the past year. It’s my break to start a new year with new energy in: September 🤩

Months where I absolutely will not set goals and try to implement new habits: december and januar. December is holy: Christmas is a beacon in the dark. January is for rest, restoration and hybernation. A quiet and meditative time in the deep of winter. I live in Norway, and January is DEEP winter. No daylight. Nature is sleeping. That is NOT a natural time for blossom: thats the time for hibernation, self care and dreaming. ❤I will go on vacation most of February this coming winter❤❤❤

Mel, I LOVE this video and the concept of starting in September because it’s also my birthday month. May I please recommend, for future videos that relate to the US/ Northern Hemisphere, that you please add a segment that speaks to your subscribers from the opposite side of the world in the Southern Hemisphere. That way, we can relate to the content and put it into perspective based on our reality. It’s currently Spring in South Africa, for example, so whenever you said “Fall”, (which is more than 1000 times), I couldn’t relate😔Would be grateful if you considered my recommendation going forward. Regardless, I’m excited for the start of the new season and to execute on my goals🎉

Interesting that you bring this up. At the end of last year I bought a RocketBook (erasable page) digital notebook. I used it, not at all. This morning I pulled it out, erased the couple of test pages I had set it up with and created a detailed list of things I want/need to get done. Once I started writing, it was like my soul just poured out onto the pages. Leaving a few blank pages I started vision board lists for the house we need, one for the Skoolie I want to build once we get into a house, and 20 songs I want to learn/relearn for family gatherings later this year. I got more done today than I have gotten done for the past 3 months. Sat down tonight and this podcast was up. Just another conformation I'm on the right path. Thank you for what you do, Mel. -c

I enjoy this video very much. I think there are a lot of valid points. The one thing I question is “4 months”. Most of the time people in mid - November are thinking “holy crap, it’s almost the end of the year! It’s holiday season. I’ve got no time. I’ll put the rest off til 2025.” My question, how to keep that momentum going those last 6 out of 8 weeks? If your single, no kids, not as much a big deal (like me) but especially if you’re married with young kids

Interesting subject, I really enjoyed this one Mel. I always start reviewing my year around the end of November and planning my goals & targets for the following year. Last year I did that as usual and set my 2024 goals to run from January 1st to end of December. I started this year with loads of energy, enthusiasm and was really productive, easily hitting my monthly goals. Then in the middle of May I started to struggle with motivation, energy levels and my productivity was really low. As someone who journals, plans, reviews and has done for years, I looked back to see what had worked well in the first few months of the year and why it has stopped working. Unfortunately I couldn't identify anything specific. Some of the topics in this video have given me an idea on what the causes might have been, so I'm keen to look at setting some September - December 2024 goals now and seeing how things work out. The only thing I'm not sure about from the video is where do my usual January goals fit into this? I feel I still need my overall 12 month goals for 2025 as they provides the direction for the year and give me something to measure my progress against. Interested to hear what others think about this.

I really enjoyed this, Mel! Thank you for the big boost into fall. I try to set goals that can be achieved in 3 month cycles to coincide with the seasons, and sort out what I need to do vs. what I want to do. The trick is not to bite off more than you can chew, metaphorically speaking. My mom used to say this quote by John Bytheway at least once during every school year, 'Inch by inch, life's a cinch. Yard by yard, it's very hard.' A bit of wisdom I won't forget. Maybe my goal for September should be to go check out all the coffee shops in my town and find out which one has my tribe waiting to enjoy that pumpkin spice latte with a book nerd like me. Love you, Mel!!! 😘💕☕🥧🎃
