So how do you get good at Giraffish?
Dr. Rosenberg suggests three things that seem to be necessary for the people he has worked with to further improve their skills in Nonviolent Communication.
The first for me is that we become aware of our own boundaries on a daily basis, and ask ourselves the question, how do we want to live? If we are not aware of that, then we easily get carried away by the game that our culture plays around us.
The second thing is to practise, practise, practise. So learning whenever we have not been able to react giraffically.
The third thing that helps immensely is to be a member of a giraffe group. By that I mean a community of people who share the same values and who also want to learn how to communicate in this way.
