Hi, what is different between Skyreat Anamorfic lens vs GOPRO MAX MOD , thx
@GreatDayForAHike

Anamorphic lens is designed for shooting cinematic footage and this lens can be used at the highest resolution available on the GoPro (5.3K in the Hero 10) but does have limitations for best results such as lens needs to be linear, Hypersmooth needs to be off, and the GoPro should be used on a gimbal. Max Lens Mod is designed for action where the camera will be moving a lot. It supports a full rotation of the camera while still keeping the footage stable. The Max Lens Mod maxes out at 2.7K resolution and cannot film in 4K or 5.3K.

bought the lens, the gimbal and set your settings. I have power director editor and I can't seem to get the clip to play correctly, its a sort of stop and go motion, Any suggestions?

I have not used that software before but a few possibilities: 1) If you filmed in 5K or even 4K this footage with the HEVC codec is pretty resource intensive and may not play smoothly on a lot of computers without downscaling it while editing. 2) The footage may need to be rendered first if it is doing this on your editing timeline. 3) Does this software provide an anamorphic conversion option for the footage? If not that could also affect it.

I have Power Director. I think it's just preview. Try changing preview from Full HD to High, Normal or Low.

Why cinematic always slow mo....can't it be like normal speed?
@GreatDayForAHike
2 жыл бұрын
Sure. You can do 24fps preferably with a shutter speed of 48 for optimal motion blur and that will be normal speed while still having a cinematic look.

Yes I have found it does add the light streaks. It’s especially neat when you experiment with the sunlight.

Hello, and thumbs up for this helpfull video. Using the GoPro10 what would be the best settings, according to you, in order to film at night? I want to use my GoPro10 in order to film in the cockpit at night but I don't know how to setup the settings! Keep uploading
@GreatDayForAHike
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. A few keys for filming at night. 1) You need to have Hypersmooth turned off. Hypersmooth will not work correctly in low light and will distort your footage so bad it will be unusable. 2) Have the GoPro mounted on something that will stabilize it or not move. In your case I expect using the GoPro suction cup mount would be best inside the cockpit. 3) If your lighting allows for it shoot in either 24 fps with a shutter speed of 48 or 30 fps with a shutter speed of 60. These two will give best results in low light. 4) For ISO settings make sure ISO Min is at 100 and ISO Max should be either 800 or 1600. 1600 will create more grain than 800 so 800 is better but if the lighting is really low then you’ll need 1600. 5) Make sure Sharpness is set to low. 6) Make sure color mode is set to Flat or Natural. Flat is best if you’re going to edit later on as you can selectively bring out colors when editing. If you don’t want to do editing then Natural will probably work best. You may need to experiment a bit to get the results you like best but these settings are key to this filming situation and will get you the best results.

Thanks for your info, yes is VERY useful. One question: When it has sun I always put ND filters, now with the Anamorphic, I need to put ND filters and which filters you suggest? Thanks
@GreatDayForAHike
2 жыл бұрын
Great question. An important distinction to know with the anamorphic lens is that you cannot use ND filters in combination with this so if you use the anamorphic lens on a sunny day you’ll need to use auto for the shutter speed.

Hi, does Hypersmooth cause the footage to get the ‘jelly’ wobble? If possible, would you be able to upload a video demonstrating with / without Hypersmooth?
@GreatDayForAHike
2 жыл бұрын
Great question. It doesn’t cause the jelly wobble in the sense of how stabilization when editing the video can in certain video editing applications. Hypersmooth can cause jitter if used in low light though due to there not being sufficient light for the electronic image stabilization to read the footage properly.

Thanks for the quick reply! So-if I’m looking to shoot outdoors in bright sunlight with a Hero 10 Black, I should use Wide angle or Linear with horizon lock with ND filters to achieve a cinematic look? (Going for the anamorphic look without the lens)
@GreatDayForAHike
2 жыл бұрын
You can do either wide or linear with horizon lock. If you do wide I’d recommend doing a lens correction later on while editing to remove fisheye. If you do linear with horizon lock you would not need to do the lens correction but it will be a bit more cropped.

i get the no hypersmooth with a nd filter because of the light reduction into the lens but i didnt see any reason to disable hypersmooth on the anamorphic lens whatsoever, it doesnt let any less light into the sensor and your footage of the leaves falling looked perfect to me !!
@GreatDayForAHike
2 жыл бұрын
For me having Hypersmooth on when using the Anamorphic lens gave wobbly looking footage in most situations. The wobble is somewhat subtle in good lighting but more noticeable in lower light. The falling leaves scene was a fun one though.
@ClassicMotorFilms
Жыл бұрын
Just a guess, but this is most likely due to the GoPro algorithm not knowing that the image is being ‘crushed’ onto the sensor and thereby not being able to compensate correctly for the rolling shutter jello effect.
