How do you know when obd2 is ready?
On-board Diagnostics (OBD) is a system used in motor vehicles that are equipped with on-board computers to detect and store data related to vehicle maintenance.
To determine when OBD2 is ready, there are two types of monitors; continuous and non-continuous. Continuous monitors check for misfires, fuel systems, and comprehensive components in real time. Non-continuous monitors evaluate things like catalyst efficiency, evaporative systems, secondary air system checks, oxygen sensor heater performance and exhaust gas recirculation/variable valve timing system tests among others.
All these measures will help detect any abnormalities or any faults with the engine that can be corrected before it becomes a more costly problem.
You'll need to use a scan tool or a OBD Code reader to access the readiness monitor status to determine in any monitors are incomplete meaning they haven't been tested by the computer, thus remains incomplete.
