Definitely start with the Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification. Even if you aren't ultimately planning on being an admin, that certification provides a well-rounded understanding of the platform as a whole. I'm creating a series of videos to help prepare for the CSA exam. The channel name on KZitem is ServiceNowSimple and the playlist is named ServiceNow Certification Journey. The first video is titled How to Get Certified in ServiceNow and goes from there. Seven videos so far with more to come until we've covered everything. Best of luck to you!!

@ServiceNowSimple

Hey RekaDarnB, I’ve noticed many others taking the interview question angle. To me, your time is best spent learning the platform vs prepping for interview questions. That said, I’m considering a series of videos teaching platform topics based upon the most commonly requested skills. I think that’s a great approach. Keep an eye out on the channel and I hopefully will have something to fill that gap soon. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hey Jeff, I’m a USN vet with a security clearance, and I have my bachelors in computer science, I’ll be completing a skillbridge as I transition out of the military and they will be training and providing the CSA test at the end of the “internship” do you think this is a good move? Or should I move to a different area in service now? Or should I take my degree elsewhere? Is the market good for a person with my skill set?

Hello Jeff, I graduated in March 2020 with a BS in Computer Information Systems, coinciding with the week when COVID shut down everything. Since then, I've accrued approximately 1.5 years of experience in IT but have lost my bearings on which direction to pursue. In the interim, I've been working as a substitute teacher. I find myself drawn to both development and business analysis, although I currently lack any certifications. I'm eager to re-establish my career in IT. Do you think my first certification should be as a ServiceNow Developer or Administrator?
@ServiceNowSimple
11 ай бұрын
Hey Sean, I'd definitely go the CSA (Administrator) route. You're really going to need that broad platform understanding anyway if you do decide on being a developer. Everything you learn in your prep for the CSA will be of value when working toward the Dev cert.
