Video came out great! Had a blast seeing the farm and helping out. Hopefully next time is one we connected with in the woods

Love this video. A tip that I learned from doing pigs in cold weather is always have a bucket of hot water next to you so you can keep dipping your hands and knives to stay a little warmer.

I am glad that people are able to make use of the road kill. We have a butcher shop but we refuse to process roadkill deer. It’s not that we don’t want to but most of the time the deer is in bad shape and the meat is badly bruised we end up tossing a lot of the meat away. The customer doesn’t get much meat back yet being our business we still have to charge full price. We had a customer try to bring us a road kill deer that been on the side of the road for two days. It was bloated because the guts were still in it. It’s was after that incident we put up a sign that we don’t do road kill.

Good morning Jack. This to me was a very interesting video.. As a hunter I have done my share of butchering game.. One biggest suggestion is your knife… it needs to be sharp… There is nothing more important.. I also have done my share of road kill as well.. Like she said you take what you can.. Remind me when I see you to tell you a story on a road kill.. Not going to describe it on here.. hahahaha That you for sharing this.. Great Video… And yup your hands get cold.. We always had a bucket of hot water to dip into and warm up and rinse off… 😉 Hopefully you got a little meat.. hahahaha Talk soon.. Go 603

i didnt know you could do this. i havent seen any deer that i remember, but moose, yes. 1 or 2 from the town crew come with a trailer and winch the moose onto the trailer. they told me it goes to get butchered for needy people. n.h. fish and game has remarks on their website to donate the animal that the hunters shoot. so i thought all the animals went that way.

ROAD KILL DEER, IT'S A UNCLAIMED TAG FROM PROPER AUTHORITIES. NOT ALL PEOPLE TAKE THEIR DEER WHEN THEY HIT THE DEER, OR THE PEOPLE WON'T REPORT IT.

We got a road kill deer in Rindge. I don’t understand how she can be doing so many towns, seems like it takes away from the locals

If you got one in Rindge, then she can’t be taking too much away, since she’s on the list there as well. They also give away most of the meat, as she mentioned in the video. Which is exactly how I ended up putting this deer in my freezer.

The deer I got was given to a buddy originally and he’s friendly with a C&H officer and he passed it on to us. I’m one resident of 6500. There have been a lot of deer killed this year in town. At least 4 that I know of since we got that deer a month ago. We are on roadkill list. Haven’t heard anything from them. 12 deer in the freezer seem excess if other are trying to get them too. I was under the impression you had a limit on how many you can have at one time too.

@@heatherpederson9403 I know Fish and Game will often default to folks they know can take them right then and there. Not included in the video was a discussion about how she’ll get calls at midnight to go out and get deer almost an hour away (from towns she isn’t even on the list for) because they know she’ll show up. She isn’t paying anyone off or doing anything nefarious. Anyone is welcome to do the same thing she is. She’s just showing a killer work ethic to bust hump and make sure these deer don’t go unused. Police departments respect that. Shoot me an email and I’ll give you her contact info. You can chat with her directly about it if you’d like.

@heatherpederson9403 I have 3 deer in my freezer, the others have been given away to people who need the meat. I don't know of a freezer large enough to hold 12 deer. They all came from different towns. Some came from roadkill lists, others I found on my own. If I don't personally know someone who needs the meat, it goes to the food bank. There is no bag limit on roadkill, and if there were, the lady at fish and game responsible for processing the tags doesn't seem to have an issue with it. None of the deer I have collected have come from Rindge. I'm waiting my turn on that list just like everyone else.

Since we have a walk-in and facilities to properly deal with the amount of roadkill we get, I'd rather take it and give away the meat so I can absolutely ensure it's going to get properly cleaned up and taken care of, and ultimately used. I have given away a lot of my meat to some friends in need. I'm not going to wait around and decline a call or pass by a good deer just in the hopes that someone else will get it. That's how you end up with DOT picking up a rotted out deer that sat for 3 days because nobody wanted to deal with it out of their busy week.
