I've been loving watching this series! The advice is super helpful as I tackle college admissions. I have some community service, mostly in the form of church mission trips. This isn't really in line with anything I'd wanted to study, do you think it is still valuable to highlight as it makes up most of my community service? And how can I make it prevalent in my application? Thanks again for making these great videos!

You'll have an opportunity to talk about this in the summer activities section of your application

Should you include the hours in your application?

How should we go about sharing the actual number of hours? Is it bad to keep track too heavily, should we just estimate for example “around 100 hours of community service”? Is it all just honesty or will a college want a log somehow of activities and hours?

I actually like this idea better but I also think this should be extended to service type jobs like being a firefighter, EMT, police officer, etc and not just military veterans. On top of that we should do away with race based and wealth based affirmative action.

How much community service hours do you think you did in high school? I know this isn't important... but I'm kinda curious.

I have done about 300 hours in tutoring Algebra, Chemistry, Physics and Biology, plus help some kids from the public school that will present the Icfes(Colombia's standardized test). Is that enough?

Don't worry about that. Your school will send a transcript with explanations to the colleges you apply to.

I think, every single school has its own grading system. In my school, for instance, we don't have A+ A= 95-100% A-= 90-94% B+=87-89% B=85-86% B-=80-84% C+=77-79% C=75-76% C-=70-74% D(+/-) < 70 u don't really want this grade Once again, different schools have different grading policy.

How many hospital volunteer hours impress selective colleges?
@JoshBeasley
7 жыл бұрын
It's not necessarily the number of hours that will impress colleges, but rather the way you talk about them in your application.
