The Number of the beast for me...but it has a not so great sound and Killers has like the same settings it seems..but totally love it too....Piece of mind is pretty close to what I like....I dig the production and sound...No Prayer is like garage production.. Iron Maidens first is like above garage... Somewhere is too over produced..for me.. in 7th they turned it back a bit but still Somewhere-ish...i recently heard book of souls and liked it..sounded like Piece but better... heck man I love Maiden ...but took a break when Jannick came on and Adrian left...I prefer Dave n Adrian only...

Seventh Son has something unique that the other Maiden album doesn't have, I still don't know why it is also my favorite, I think it's because the band was at its best moment during that era and the 1988 Donnington concert was just the best in the history of heavy metal.

That's exactly the sound, Eamon. I remember borrowing a couple of quid from my bro, and buying the album on its day of release in Sept '86. For me (and a Very small % of fans) this was the apex of their albums. A reflective album that makes us think about space and time. Still fresh as a daisy, 35 years later! Cheers.

I can't log in using my oher account anymore BUT you can also get this sound using Boss stomp boxes and of course a Marshall amp. My current set up for this sound would be to use heavy chorus, the DD-3 delay for regular playing of the songs and the DD-7 for any actual delay used like the begining of Heaven can wait. The secret for the BEST distortion is using an Ibanez Sonic distortion SD-9 and then the Boss EQ to taylor the sound.

That's a bit harsh! I go through the settings I'm using in the video. I've never personally been that interested in the technical aspects of using effects. I just play around with the sound until I get what to me, sounds good. As stated, the reason that I did this video is because I got lots of requests to show how I got the sound I was using.

I have everything your using there except that particular pa, but I have something similar, but any digitech processor will give you this sound, when they recorded that album the rocktron was out and that’s probably what they used, you can hear it on def leppards hysteria, and several others, but I guess my point is ANY digitech processors will get you there although the rocktron craze was shortlived I still get mine out from time to time

+Derek Savage For a neck pickup I really like the DiMarzio Air Norton. And they actually have a version of that that fits into a single coil slot. It's called DiMarzio Air Norton S. I'd try that. DiMarzio Chopper is also a good choice for a neck pickup or for the middle one as well.

Hi John, The digitech can be a great pedal, but it also has its limitations. I've found it quite frustrating at times to use, and as such I only use a limited number of settings. Personally, I find that plugged into an amp, and turned up loud creates the best results. Plugging straight into my laptop to record however reveals its limitations. I have little patience for the infinite settings that you can play around with. I suspect that with patience, great results can be achieved.

If you got a *good* (REALLY good) ASIO sound device, good speakers and/or headphones (talking about high frequency range, etc.), I can recommend guitar rig. I can reproduce ANY sound you want it to, even those that don't really sound like a guitar any more. it literally has no limitations, as far as I can see - if you got a strong cpu.. If you're more the hardware type, you can get the boss GT-10 or similar. It can do alot of stuff, although it has it's limits (number of effects, etc.).

A question regarding the digitech rp500. I've been looking for and trying effects for a while and tried everything from separate pedals to pedal boards etc... and nothing has really cut the musturd or come close to a digitech rp7 that was my first ever effects unit. I've always had traditionalists saying how crap boards were compared to the tone of separate pedals and that they were sub-standard in general. Would it be wise to buy this unit and is it good for home as well as live??

I have that Gallien Kruger amp. This tone I just a digital approximation. And didn't sound very good. Maybe good for digitech, but not in the real world. If I need real IM tone I use JMP1, JFX1 and 9200 thru 4x12 Marshall full stack.
