So basically autopilot is the baby thinking he's driving the car in game when the controller isn't even connected to the console.

The easiest way to do RCs (reality checks) is to catch yourself daydreaming. You do it dozens if not hundred of times a day. Every time you find yourself in a daydream, treat it like a normal nighttime dream and do an RC. This will build the habit of living lucidly and give you practice for coming Lucid in your night dreams. At least, this has been easiest for me. And it doesn't require alarms or any other mechanical process. It's completely natural and spontaneous.

That is a really interesting concept, especially for maladaptive daydreamers. What reality checks did you use?

But what if auto-pilot checks become an auto-pilot thing? agh my brain😂
@Tipharot
7 жыл бұрын
Auto-pilot occurs when you don't give the checks your full attention and just kind of do them as if rehearsing them. It's the same principle as with reality checks. A lot of people perform reality checks just as "practice" for when they dream, not realising that when they dream they'll think they're awake and do the same thing. Same principle applies here - if you don't take the checks seriously and genuinely question whether or not you're on auto-pilot, then of course you'll automate these checks too and get nothing from them. So take them seriously :)

Honestly that's one of my favourite things about lucid dreaming too. I don't mention it as much now because I've been lucid dreaming so long that I don't think about it as much - but before I started lucid dreaming I had SO many nightmares. After I started, something peculiar started happening: Every time I had a nightmare, I'd immediately go "Wait that doesn't make sense" and realise I was dreaming. So I've always been able to end them or turn them into fun dreams now. :)

Wow. Few days ago I had these thoughts that maybe I find lucid dreaming so difficult to learn (I know about LD for atleast 10 years, tried several times, my current attempt with dream journaling, meditation, reading, listening, watching takes on 4 month now with no result) because of the autopilot that often turns on during the day. I started trying to do things more mindfully. Still I haven't found the key factor that prevents me from LD and actually from experiencing the dreams instead of just remembering them (not always btw).

When I start being aware or trying to be off auto pilot (even though I can't do it all day) it kinda chooses my dreamscape. Atleast if I focus on what I see, it well make my dreams (not my lucid ones) more like my reality with dramatic differences like if I focus on water and mud (this happened recently) i had a dream where I was in my friends trailer court but it was a swamp (I've never had a swamp related dream till I started focusing on things I see during the day and at work I see a lot of mud and water haha) maybe that's basic info but to me it was neat. Good video 🌞

when you check your senses , do you check them one at a time, or do you do the senses at the same time? i.e. Seeing a tree, then hearing a bird, smelling flowers, and finally feeling your bag, or do you see,smell,hear, and touch them at the same time?

I'd be open to adding in translated captions in different languages, as that's something I've wanted to do for a while now (but simply haven't been able to translate myself). If you let me know which videos you're interested in translating, I can enable community contributions which would allow you to submit captions for them in your language. Alternatively you can send me captions directly over Twitter @Tipharot.

I sometimes realize that i don't remember almost anything about things i did days before it. Could it be that i really don't pay attention to things and they just pass by and leave no impact?
@Tipharot
7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Memory definitely improves drastically when you learn to be present more often. We filter out so much because we deem it to be unimportant to the activities we're engaged in at the time - but that often results in us missing out on a lot of useful information.

Auto-Pilot vs. Flow-State. Difference? ....
@Tipharot
7 жыл бұрын
Great question because I think a lot of people think they're in flow when they're on auto-pilot. Auto-pilot = Absorbed but not present. Flow = Absorbed and present. So for example, if you're working on a document in autopilot, you will just kind of be typing along. You'll be "going through the motions". You'll be unable to focus on anything else, but your focus on the activity is specific to the act of "getting it done" rather than focusing in on *what* you're doing. On the other hand, if you're working on a document in flow, you will also be focused on the activity at hand, but rather than simply focusing on "getting it done" you will be focused on precisely what it is that you are doing in that moment, such as choosing the most appropriate words for the sentence that you are typing. Another example, if you were to eat dinner on auto-pilot, you'll go through the motions, trying to finish your food. If you eat dinner in flow, then you will spend the time tasting the food to its fullest, really experiencing it. Auto-pilot = Automation. Flow = Immersion. Now the next difference comes with how you react to other things. A person in a flow state can easily move to address any other concerns that may arise. If you are in flow during a work project, and your boss interrupts you to tell you something, it doesn't stop the flow state, you simply direct your presence to receiving his information, and then back to your project afterwards. With auto-pilot you just end up not really hearing what he has to say properly, but also interrupting your work process simultaneously.

Just 1 Question...When i do Fild when I wake up should I move my finger slightly for 15 or 10 seconds then I should wait for about 30 secs then I do a RC or should I move my fingers for 30 secs then I do a RC!?...Great Vid BTW :)

Don't count the time, as you don't want to focus on the process too much, but 15-20 seconds is usually fine when it works.
