Honda as well as some other manufacturers have a front differential brake that is activated by the difference of torque transfer between the wheels. It works great in normal conditions but if one wheel is in the air or on really slippery surface the torque to that wheel is 0 and that doesn’t activate the diff brake. By braking both front wheels the spinning wheel will need torque to overcome the brakes, that torque activate the diff brake and power is transferred to the other wheel. And NO it does not work with a simple open differential but I know people don’t read the description so I put it in the title.
