I like to use Safer's insecticidal soap as a spray. You will usually see the mealybugs turn the brownish color (dead) right away because of the surfactant that's in the spray and makes it more effective.

They're awful! They're pretty easy to deal with, but just have to stay on top of it. Best of luck!

Just found your channel! Thanks for the quick tips on eradication of mealy bugs. With a mild dilution of isopropyl to distilled water, I think we'll get through the infestation pretty fast. Thanks!

Contrary to what most people say, male mealybugs CAN FLY after they pupate (like a butterfly). It makes them even more frustrating to deal with😫. The battle is never really over! Thank you 😀!

i see the white fuzzy stuff but i do not see the actual bug.. should i treat my plants anyway?
@FreePlantsForever
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I would, they can be teeny tiny, and the bigger they are, the more likely they're laying eggs🫣
@Nclk619

They cover themselves in the white cotton stuff, that's the colony, that's where the eggs are, they stop moving when they ready to hatch bazillions of eggs. So if you see the white stuff you have infestation already

@@Nclk619 oh wow.. i threw out two string of pearls earlier this year and 3 last year. i quit buying them from a certain greenhouse because i couldn’t figure out why they were so unhappy. once i realized it was a parasite problem i quit buying them. they’re nearly impossible to treat on sop. i treated them using so many things it got frustrating. if it’s no longer rewarding to have a plant in my house, it’s time to go.

Hello was wondering if you can tell me how to get rid of what I think is GNATS that are in the wet Soil in m Pots of Tomato and other Veggies. Thank you
@FreePlantsForever
Жыл бұрын
Sounds like fungus gnats for sure. You might try mixing mosquito bits in and around the soil. I’ve also heard of making a solution that is 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 4 parts water, and saturate the soil. That should kill the larvae. Reapply once a week for about 4 weeks until the gnats are gone.

You can also water from the bottom if you can or but about an inch of sand on top of the soil as the gnats larvae is what you don't want and they need wet soil to lay the eggs ,so if you let the soil dry out they will not survive ! And stickey fly traps work well also!

Why are carnivorous insects native to the afea bad. Lady bugs are in most states in usa

What's wrong with using "carnivorous insects" like ladybugs?
@FreePlantsForever
6 ай бұрын
There are many reasons not to use ladybugs, first, they're ineffective, but even worse, they are harvested from the wild, which has been decimating their numbers and has allowed for competition from Asian Ladybug (an invasive species). They are also usually collected during hibernation and refrigerated, but are migratory - which means they will eat a few aphids then go back to wherever they came from. They may also bring with them ladybug parasites that are transferred to our local population.

Depends on the plant, if it's the same money plant that I'm familiar with, it needs more than a leaf to propagate, but can grow from a node in water. But if it's a succulent like a graptoveria or echeveria it can grow from just a leaf kept relatively dry and out of direct sunlight. Hope that helps!
