This is the first time I've gotten an unwanted snail in one of my recently purchased plants. And just today I noticed quite a few baby snails. I don't know what kind they were and this new planted tank is under 15 gallons so it's not like there hundreds in there although I did remove between 40 and 50. And my brand new "turkey baster" sucks them right off the glass!!! So as long as they're very small, manually removing them via the turkey baster method wasn't that bad and didn't take that long. And while I probably missed a couple they're now what I call snails under control!!!

The problem is that I am an accidental mystery snail rancher. I have become the biggest mystery snail dork in the last year. I love em! They are so freaking entertaining! In order to reduce the quantity of bladder snails, I would have to also endanger my mystery snails. So, for now, I will just let them be and every so often I will clean the eggs off of my plants (paper towels or cotton swabs are actually pretty good at this!).

I hate killing anything. So, I've just been picking them from my 2 smaller tanks & putting them into my 5 gallon tank. I just recently saved 8 Ramshorn snails from going down the drain - dude that had an "infestation" was really making a big scene at the store, so I just went to his place and "rescued" the ones that popped last. Unfortunately, 2 died and I was left with 6. One lives with my Betta now and I don't let it lay eggs. The other 5 live in an aquarium of their own with floating plants only. They are laying eggs, but they haven't managed to populate the aquarium yet. I know nothing about them thou, I just treat them as I treat my golf size mystery snail that live with my guppies.

I recently got Carrot snails and they will uproot plants and strip the bark of stem plants especially if recently planted. They don’t bother established plants as much.

I like snails because I think they are the best scavengers you can get they can get down into crooks and crannies where even the catfish or loaches can not get that excess food! to control them I just use DYI snail traps made from a soda bottle

Question.. I use the leaves that’s supposed to be good for fish. I found they will eat up a 10 inch leaf in 5 days. I like snails. Just not a thousand. I’m infested w/trumpets.

OMG the minute you said SNAILS how does that make you feel at that very moment I could feel my teeth clenching and I get so angry I'm mad I'm mad I'm mad I'm mad I can't get rid of these stupid snails and they just keep coming and coming and coming ugh. One time even because of the snails I got rid of my old aquarium and bought all brand new stuff everything aquarium pump everything and then I switched the fish over there and no doubt three or four weeks later there was snails in my tank. Obviously they were clinging to the fish when I changed them over. Oh well I guess there's nothing I can do can't afford to buy all those expensive fish cities snails I'll try the cucumbers though. Thanks for your video It was very informative

For me it's all about feeding. Tanks that get a little too much food at the bottom of the tank usually have more snails for us.

Great info! At this moment, I think I have two dozen pond snails in my one-gallon nano tank. It snuck in on one of the plants. With my wife and I having a background in environmental science, I just let the tank take care of itself :) Plus my kids like watching snails sometimes more than the fish lol 😆

I used the snails to destroy the snails, and it nearly killed me.

This might be a really stupid question, but how do you dispose of the snails? I scoop them out, then what? Toss outside, throw in the trash? I have too many Mystery Snails, even though I love them! My betta has been taking care of the babies, but the ones that make it to adulthood are a problem now. I have 3 adults (and some babies) and my betta in a 6.5 gallon, I know I have to get rid of a couple of the adults, so what do I do? It seems cruel to squish. :(

Great Question! You know what I might do? Sell them - they are easy to ship and you should be able to make $1.00 each for them? Could make your hobby free!

? Will the assassin snails kill my nerite snails in my community tank? I have corydoras, 2 bristlenose plecos, danios, 4 nerite snails. I just found some ranshorns snails in my tank a week after I got some new plants. So I seen them when I did a water change. I sew your video but still confused. Thanks in advance.

I don't mind the look of snails but I've had them eat plants in my tank, no joke . I don't know what kind they were though. They ate the plants right down to the webbing of the leaves and then lay long clear jelly like egg things all over the tank. I had to remove the fish and completely do the tank over .

I have yet to hear anything bad about snails at all. I think of them as free pets that clean up when I feed my fish too much. Someone show me something bad that snails did please so I can see what all the fuss was about.

I'm doing a complete clean out. I sent you an email & ask about bleaching tanks to clean out. I see you don't check that email much & the auto reply said to ask on Chanel. Thanks!

You can certainly bleach a tank and plastic decorations. A quick rinse before putting back into use is needed.
