Part 1 of series How to get rid of soap ash from African black soap. Soap ash or soda ash both cold process soap and hot process soap. It forms on African black soap also, but it is something that you do not have to worry about as it is harmless in soapmaking.
Soda ash is the correct name for the white powder that forms on the surface of some handmade soaps such as African black soap and soaps made with sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide.
It occurs naturally when the lye in your soap interacts with carbon dioxide. Soda ash is not dangerous, it does not affect how your soap works at all.
