SAFETY: ADULT SUPERVISION A MUST.
THE ARROWS CAN BE HARD TO TRACK, WILL FALL DOWN AND SPEAR THE GROUND NEAR YOU WITH THE SAME FORCE AS FIRING OWING TO HEAVY LEAD WEIGHT.
HELMET AND PROTECTIVE EYEWEAR ESSENTIAL.
WAIT UNTIL NO ONE ELSE IS IN THE AREA BEFORE FIRING.
DON'T LAUNCH ANYWHERE NEAR OVERHEAD ELECTRICITY/PHONE LINES.
BE ACUTELY AWARE THAT LARGE, OLD BRANCHES WILL ALSO LIKELY COME CRASHING DOWN WITH GREAT FORCE.
BE AWARE THAT IF AN ARROW LANDS ON A ROAD THE WIRE CAN GET WRAPPED UP IN A VEHICLE AND VIOLENTLY DRAG YOU ALONG WITH IT.
IF IN DOUBT - DON'T RISK ANYTHING.

Equipment details: -
PVC tubing: appropriate diameter to comfortably accommodate your arrows (available at any hardware store).
Exercise band: I used a latex exercise 'stretch band' - tensile force: 15 to 35 lbs; size: 208 X 1. 3 X 0.45 cm.

Electrical tape: probably any kind of tape will do - but electrical tape is very grippy and has some decent elasticity before breaking point.
Wooden dowel arrows: roughly a metre long. I used a triangular cross-section but circular potentially best. Make a good few because you will likely lose one or two. I also painted mine for easy identification against forest backdrop. These arrows resemble a simple firework rocket.
Lead weights: I only used these as I had plenty spare kicking around - in a very handy thin-sheet form. Other kinds of weight undoubtedly just as effective. Lead roll (aka 'flashing') is available at any roofing store.
Fishing line: comes in many thicknesses: -
I used this: -

At the end of the day it needs to be tough enough to either yank on the branch or pull a thicker piece of say, nylon rope up and over a branch (in order to really tug on a branch).
VERY PRONE TO TANGLES - suggest laying out a large sheet or tarpaulin if you can.
Maybe buy a few fishing reels (cheap anyway) as any kinks or knots increasingly make things harder and more time consuming.
Attach the fishing line to at (or just below) the tip weights.
I guess nylon sewing thread might work too.

Optional: -
I had to use a very strong nylon kite string to yank my plane down out of the tree as shaking the branch alone wasn't helping. This damaged the body of the plane somewhat.
I also experimented with raising a lightweight cutting wire to remove the supporting branch: -

The above wire snapped in two far too easily - suggest investing in a sturdy cutting chain if you go down this route (plenty of KZitem videos about these).
Also called a 'Rope Saw'.

Firing the arrows: -
Surprisingly easy to aim.
Surprisingly effective (arrows go really high) - so take any wind into account when firing up and over the tree.

Make sure you give yourself enough time in the day - as having to pack-up due to nightfall, only to have to go back back the next day would be frustrating and even more time-consuming.
