This Was A Great Video 😃.! All Of Your Tips Are Soo Helpful.! Could You Tell Us More About How You Started Doing Greeting Cards.? Like , Should I Make A Bunch And Sell Them That Way Or Create Them To Order 🤷🏽♀️.? I’m Soo Excited 😁.! You Gave Me So Much Confirmation When You Talked About Cards Because That’s Where I’m Looking To Start ☺️. Thank You 😊.!!

@@NewYorkBaby1994 What I always suggest to designers looking to start in greeting cards is that you have to get them done in VOLUME in order to make any profit. Otherwise the cost of printing is equal to what you are selling them for and it is pointless. SO what I would say is that getting a service business started to generate cash flow that you can then not be super freaked out about making money immediately on greeting cards. Also, I tried Etsy and printing on demand and then Amazon where I was selling them in packs of 20 and that was much easier, as Amazon would ship them for me, whereas on Etsy I had to ship every individual one.

I like the idea of just getting out there and getting started...so you might get a few "no thank you" responses or make some mistakes when selling your service, but you will be learning from those encounters . It's called experience and you can build on those experiences to get better and more comfortable in the pursuit of your goals Lauren, your lesson makes total sense.

Love your positive energy! My first client last week was a fashion designer from a previous job. Quoted her a realistic logo price, but then yes realised discounted work is where to start (agree about NEVER doing free work). The response I got was great comments about my service, as yes I treated her like a friend not a robot.

Hi again Lauren! I was curious for step three if you have certain phrases you've honed over the years to suggest design improvements to small businesses over the phone. I am trying to think about how to come across as confident and tactful
@4TheCreatives

It really comes down to asking how their marketing is going and if they say something is off or they aren't getting enough sales, you could ask if they had done proper research into their target audience before creating their logo or brand or website or whatever the design you feel is off is. If they say no, then that opens the door for you to give a suggestion to properly create the design tailored to attract their ideal audience.

Hey Lauren, I tried to find small business owner groups on FB but when I tried to join them, I had to prove that I was an actual owner in that industry. Do you have any suggestions?
@4TheCreatives
Жыл бұрын
Which specific FB group was it? You are a business owner yourself if you have your own design business. Some groups will be very exclusive, but there are many that will allow you in even if you say you are there to learn about the industry.

😂 it’s a debatable one! Check out this from Merriam Webster: There is a debate about how you are supposed to pronounce niche. There are two common pronunciation variants, both of which are currently considered correct: \NEESH\ (rhymes with sheesh) and \NICH\ (rhymes with pitch). \NICH\ is the more common one and the older of the two pronunciations.
