Awesome video! You’re really going to help out a lot of people that are looking to getting into wildland Fire!! I would also suggest volunteering for Team Rubicon. They offer free sawyer training for their volunteers. This is a great way for people to get the feel of operating and maintaining chainsaws as well as getting experience in felling snags in post wildfire mitigation operations.

S-110 wont get you onto the fireline or hired as a WFF. S130/190 , L-180, ICS-100 and IS-700 are the needed classes to get FFT2 on your redcard. There's also a field component that is required, finished my training yesterday. My training crew cut 800 feet of line, laid 1/2 mile of hose and did structure protection bump and run drill. Also shelter deployment drill. Before all that did a lot of fitness training. Oh I'm 62 years old...If you study and train hard you can do it!

So if I got my S-110 in 2001 is it still good? I went to a minimum security prison and I got to go out and fight fires with Washington State DNR I had to a test and get into my emergency blanket in under an minute. I learned about the fire triangle and the terminology and fundamentals of a wildfire. So how do I find out if I am still valid or not?

Cal Fire is California’s wildland fire fighting operation. Hot shots are specialized teams of self-sufficient firefighters. Some are smoke jumpers. They eat sleep and work on the fire line in spike camps.
