Rad. Just bought an 06 Lexus GX470 and have "the clunk." There's an inexpensive replacement drive shaft for the faulty original, i saw on youtube. But if greasing it solves the clunk, that's even cheaper. Great video... I'll do this tomorrow and report back on whether or not the clunk goes away. Thank you!

Update: greased it up. Made it 300 miles home from a road trip. No clunks until my driveway. I thought I had it fixed! Looks like I'm in for the new and improved driveshaft for $197 at partsgeek.

Sorry I don’t keep up with these comments but I’d be willing to bet if you greased it up again it would be fine. In my head if it hasn’t been done in a long time and you do it once the grease could get into places it hadn’t been and the “level” would be low again shortly.

Finally did this today and fixed my clunk! You explained it better than any one has!

Lol. I was curious about the positioning of the fittings. I picture myself just leaving the gx in neutral as I’m under it

That's an excellent job.

I’ve been seeing people put it in neutral on both the shift knobs to avoid having to move the car, you’ll just spin the drive shaft instead

Any grease gun works right. Or is there a special tip for the slip yolks

Yeah a standard 8$ gun from walmart would work as long as it's the automotive one.

The U-joints and slip yoke require different type of grease.
