Thanks mate I have plant where the scion died off and the rootstock suckered heaps in a pot that I picked up from a friend. I was hoping to clean it up and graft on but hopefully propagate more rootstocks to not waste the prunings which it looks like I'll be able to do now! I'll then bud graft on a few citrus varieties I've been able to identify leaning over people's fences in the local area once the rootstocks are established enough. Hoping to give some of these away as Christmas presents but also be able to make my own trees for cheap.

This is great! I have found if you ask people and they are happy to share cuttings. You might get more variety hitting up people in local gardening groups too.

On my citrus if I have low running branches I cut the cup and airlayer/marcott them in place, either trifoliate or the fruit of tree.

greetings from New Zealand. nice video. just to clarify, rooting the cuttings will never achieve strong root ball and the root system will be prone do dying. so would not be better to grow a plant from seed as the rootstock. and then grafting onto that rootstock?

once good leaves start forming you want to remove the top to avoid to much humidity. You ill start in introduce fungus and root rot if you dont

The moisture is locked in. If you have holes in the bottom soak the cup in water

I wondered the same thing, but from my experience rooting other plants, usually between 4 and 6 weeks. You will notice new leaf growth on them when they have taken root and at that point it should be safe to transplant. I have a lemon tree with 2 annoying suckers that I have to keep cutting back. Then today I took a cutting off one to try and see if it would root. That's what led me here. I guess they will root just like anything.
