In winter growing ginger in totes with a few holes in the lid will help keep humidity at a good level. I grow alot of ginger, it needs to stay moist at all times.

I actually had a dream about growing ginger last night! In real life I had planted out some ginger hoping it would sprout as i left it in water for a week and nothing had happened... will see if it works. i'm going to try again with your video, thanks for the info!

You don't need to plant the mother rhizome. Just separate the plant from the ginger piece and plant it. The original piece eventually shrivels up anyway so ou may as well use it.

Thank you for the time and effort. You have allocated to this subject matter. Sadly, I have no knowledge, of how to grown this plant. And the requirements entailed. You have mentioned “Wintering off.” What does that entail please? I have several ginger roots, on the work surface, within the kitchen. Several buds, are being to form. Two, are displaying green shoots. Without leaves. Am I required to place them within water. In order to encourage this growth pattern? And for how long. Sadly, I do not have access to the heat of a boiler. Or any other place of warmth. How may I counteract this please, if possible? I live within England. And wonder, if it is to late, to pursue this endeavour. As we are in the month of July. Where the temperature, can at times be rather cool, with semi constant winds.
