i just ordered a midnight marvel, and living in Arizona this video was extremely informative and helpful on what to do, so i thank you for this information and in confirming that the location that gets dappled shade with around 5 hours of full sun and will have looser soil is indeed a good location to plant it in :) We grow hibiscus but they're the tropical varieties, so i wasn't sure of what to expect with rose mallows

You'd love the Summerific line of Hardy Hibiscus. I purchased the Summerific Perfect storm and Summerific Cherry Choco Latte this Spring. They're gorgeous. I had a couple of the Disco Belles and the Summerific line blows them away in the show they put on. The Choco Latte seemed to be taller (not by a lot) and blooms about a month earlier. I'm excited for next year's new comers.... I really don't need anymore but love this plant

Beautiful hibiscus! Thank you for showing us all your hardy ones. I live near Philadelphia and buy new ones every year, which gets expensive. How much water do they need? I have to water the annual one every day. Is that about right? Do we need to put in a drip water system? Do they take full sun, or partial shade?? Thanks so much!

You spoke of husbandry and I’m just wondering if you do something special to guard against all the blooms that turn yellow. I pull them off daily because they usually have little holes and/or eggs on them and will not bloom. I spray with Neem but I’m wondering if it’s bugs attacking or a type of worm. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

My thought on your plant being bigger near the generator - if that generator is always running, it’s warmer there & the warmth goes deeper into the ground. Same w grass along concrete or brick paths - it will always grow better from the warmth it holds.

Thank you! I almost considered my hardy hibiscus dead after the first time I planted it because all it was was sticks sticking out of the soil. But I left it in. Good thing because i’m mid April, I noticed small shoots growing from the base. Now by end of April, I have much foliage growing. My question to you is, when does it start to bud and when could I expect blossoms? Should I fertilize and what type should I use? I’m in North Carolina.

Thanks for the information . I currently have 10 I've grown from seeds started in march. They're still small only ranging from 6-10in tall. When or at what height should they before I plant them in yard? And will they automatically grow into bushes? Or do I have to shape them with pruning?
@organixgirl

They grow into bushes I would do a pot work up to 2 gal after that plant in the ground the root ball should be big enough to take off in ground. You can prune if you like because you'll see they do grow crazily at times.
