Great video brother! The trick with making agar out of the same nutrient water that you are spawning in is brilliant. I will definitely be doing that or better yet I might just start adding light malt extract to everything including my liquid culture to spawn bags.

Great video. I love that Dr. Ed guy! Consistency is also what I desire. My paddy rice supply is so variable throughout the year, supplier, brand. I need to monitor/cook every 10 kg bag just a little bit differently. I feel like an Italian cooking pasta...except every time it's a different kind of pasta. I think my babies appreciate the extra time and love I put into their food.

Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of experience with the world. It's undoubtedly one of the most significant contributions to humanity I can imagine. I'm just learning and sharing my journey in hopes that folks can not make the mistakes I had to, to be successful. As for grains, man, they are particular, I am not able to just "set and forget" any grain preparation I've tried. Thanks for commenting. Anyone reading this ....go watch Ed's videos!!

rinsing, boiling, laying out to cool & dry is all over rated !! soak for 24 hours, strain well, bag or jar while wet & PC for 2.5 hours, no need for all that extra work. I got 4 years of cultivating & i went through all this & its a waste of time and effort. i cook up 30lb batches in 5lb bags or 24lb batches in 2lb bags with no problems. make your life easier, not harder. i had to log in to comment, YT blocks the video player for those who dont play by the YT rules LOL i did like & subscribe even though i rarely log in anymore because YT sucks big donkey pen*s

Hey, thanks for the input. My friends all try and get me to join the No Soak, No Simmer Millet gang. PC rinsed millet with 150ml of water in quart jars. I refuse, I enjoy the boiling process. It allows me to make sure each back of grain is properly hydrated. Each batch of grains is different so the prep will always be different. It only takes 45 minutes and I then I can fit 8x 2lb grainbags or 10 quart jars in the Presto. I too stopped drying the grains before PC. I let them drain in the seive and load them up when they stop dripping! I think this method is best for me to maintain CONSISTENCY, which I value over volume and potential failure.

@@TheTieDyeRyeGuydo you use the same method for millet or milo? That's all I have right now and I just started cultivating mushrooms. I tried sterlizing Brown rice and Idk why I burn it?

@@Rubo7 yes, the soak is clutch. I don't actually boil the millet or Milo. I soak overnight and then just heat it up, just to a boil, then strain it off. Save the Grainwater for Agar. Once it cools in the strainer I go to jars/bags and PC.

@@TheTieDyeRyeGuy is there a reason to boil it after you leave it over night? I watch southwest mushrooms and he just let's them soak over night and than just sterilizes the grain. 🤷♂️

@@Rubo7 that also works. The moisture left over from the soak will cook into the grains. I just try and expose all the endospores so they can be destroyed in the PC. With a simple soak they don't all expose. Once I heat them up, the little tails come out.
